Rem 700 Minimum Striker Spring Weight

My Rem 700, 6BR, set up for LRBR is giving me fits....4 and 1 grouping and/or random flyers at
three different nodes.

6 BR
H4895
Bart's Gungnir's
450's
8T & 7T barrels
Glue in

It can group in 2's followed up by a 1/2 inch or worse. Yes with flags....even in calm conditions. It will not agg.

Tried new barrel and different scope.

Seems to be ignition.

I decreased cock on close by .030 with a PTG cocking piece and pin....remaining pin-fall is .250+. However the problem existed before this.

.060 Pin protrusion

Pin, spring and cocking piece run free without drag.

I think the problem may be the 21# striker spring weight.

I've ordered new 24# and 28# springs.

Am I on the right track?

I would think 24# would be the minimum. Also, Remingtons are designed to have no less than 1/4 inch of firing pin fall.

Also, make sure it is not all “wadded up” inside the bolt like so many are. If when you slip the assembly in it rubs, that is not good.

Waiting on new 24# and 28# springs to arrive.

Yes the pin and spring slide in with no resistance and and I have .250+ remaining pin fall after reducing cock on close by .030.

Thanks for your post.

I should add that I have trued lugs, abutments, threads, bolt face, action face, reamed action and sleeved bolt to .002 clearance.

And Dan took care of the primary extraction with an extended bolt handle.
