Remington Rifle Current Production Quality?

I was shooting Long Range Highpower at the National Matches some years back. They had some kind of International shooting match running concurrently. There were Aussies shooting, a team or teams from New Zealand and some people from Japan (maybe other countries). Some of the people from Japan were to my left on the 1000 yard line. I will never forget the one Japanese guy. He had some kind of weird sight setup. I think it had some kind of bend in the rear sight, but I can't remember very well. What I do remember is seeing him shoot with his head above the rear sight, LOOKING DOWNWARD.

You were probably there during the 2015 world long range championships and Palma team championship. We had teams from Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Japan, USA, and "The Islands". Almost a total absence of the NRA at that match even though the Palma trophy belongs to them.

I've seen several foreign imports of rifles and shotguns, which are well built, CZ, Mirouko, and Rossi. My argument is WHY can't this country produce rifles & shotguns like we did in the 1950s & '60s. But when you have Unions demanding more & more perks for employees, something has to give. Also more and more regulations on firearm producers thakes a toll on Quality.
Let's not leave out management.....They always get their bonuses and stock options and pay raises.

I recently bought 2 Rem Arms 700 rifles (a standard Sporter and a Varmint) to play with. First I shot them and was very pleased with the results. Five shot groups of less than an inch with the Sporter, and half that for the Varmint. After a couple hundred rounds at the range I pulled the barrels to square the actions. The actions required almost no work, and almost no metal was removed. They were much closer to fitting properly than the older 700's I have worked over.
I did replace the triggers, but the non-adjustable Timney that came on the was really pretty good. The factory triggers broke reasonably cleanly at about 2 !/2 pounds.
The lower priced models do have the usual flexible plastic stocks, but that is an easy fix.

I have seen some keyboard experts trash Remington. A lot of those fellows have not actually used one and simply parrot what they read somewhere. They are not perfect, but for the price they are good and made in the USA..

Yes, that sounds correct. Thank you.
