Remington Rifle Current Production Quality?

My rar700 20" 8tw 243w is great for a field gun. Its a sporter barrel and shoots under moa with ease. It was less than 500$ before tax.

The cock on close is just like my rr700. Nothing of concern unless you are shooting fclass or BR.

Think the biggest change they may have made is recently switching to using a Timney trigger now. For what I see of their pricing, they're not trying too hard to compete with the bottom end stuff anymore. Still haven't resurrected the Custom Shop as far as I can see. Who knows what they have in mind for the future of that company and what steps they have really taken in QC. Assume they are still sticking to a 1MOA guarantee, may still be 50/50 if you'll get that or not. Material, equipt and labour costs are still an issue for them, I expect. Seem to be building the basic good sellers at present. I still wouldn't run out and buy one for a few more years, let them build a bit of a track record.

Hmmmm: Ron Spomer is a gun writer isn't he? Not saying he isn't 100% truthful, but he writes for a firearms magazine doesn't he? Take any print magazine and count the columns on a page. Three. Count the total number of columns in the entire magazine, and divide by that three. At least 1/3rd advertising is standard. Some are closer to 40%.
How many are by custom action builders? Barrel makers? Magazines exist to sell new firearms, mostly. And a lot of those reviews involve a free hunting trip for the author. Who is not likely going to talk about a firearm that could not keep five shots under four inches at a hundred yards. Five shots, a significant number of articles I have read the last ten years use three shots as the new standard. They will say that you seldom get that many shots at a game animal, so five is immaterial.
They also like to keep those test firearms.

For twenty years I was good friends with Carl Hildebrandt the chief engineer at Savage. For sixteen of those years I wrote primarily for Precision Shooting Magazine. They gave me ONE rifle. It was originally a 7mm Remington Magnum 12BVSS. That was because they had me test it, then send it back to be rechambered to 7 STW and returned it to me. After the testing, Savage said it would cost more to send it back again than it was worth. That and the Lawyers liability issues.

Ask Ron Spomer how many free firearms he got to keep over the years? I know two gun writers in Idaho that had to add onto their gun rooms to hold all their "Freebies".

The ammunition and firearms are completely different companies now.
It seems like whenever a firearm company is bought by another company, quality suffers. Take Winchester, for example. Winchester, in the past, made wonderful classic rifles and shotguns, now they are turning out junky looking rifles and such. They discontinued or changed their once popular classic looking model 70s, now the 70s are junky looking with those cheap plastic stock and parts. The once very popular 94 carbines are no longer made. One thing in addition is the rifles or shotguns aren't certainly worth the price they are asking for these junky firearms. :(

I would like to see Tikka buy Remington out. I don’t want Remingtons any more, but I would by another Tikka.
Even though as a Finn I do prefer Tikka and Sako always, I do still believe that there has to be competition on market. That is why Tikka is so good today, they had to beat Remington and Ruger on your market. But if there is no competition, Tikka won't be good in future, there is no reason for them to go forward. Capitalism is good for us.

I used to get articles on my FB feed regarding various articles he wrote for various entities, and vids on YT feed, he does a lot of idiotic junk for the sake of creating something to fill some space that someone had to be desparate to have filled, absolutely ludicrous stuff at times. Got to the point where if his name was attached, I scrolled by or clicked on do not recommend channel on YT.

I can't be any help on this one because I almost never buy new. I take my time, find what I want in pristine condition, check it out thoroughly, and if it has any problem at all I let one of my two gunsmiths fix it~! Sorry to be such a tight-wad. No I'm not~!
I pretty much don't know of anything thats a new firearm that I would buy. I always buy used now.

I firmly believe the Finns (and some other Europeans) have a better approach to quality control, education/training, and goals to make a solid product that performs compared to the US. Their products are usually solid and sought after.

I can be an avid shooter who does not reload or do gunsmithing, buy a Tikka at a fair price for what it is, and have a “keep it forever” rifle. Howa seems to be another example of a solid factory gun for the average guy. Remington has historically fumbled the ball with their product line.

We are told capitalism is the way to go, and in it’s purest form it was. But now it’s about profit, not quality. That’s why we spend money on stuff that might not give trouble for 5 years when it lasted 25 or more in the past.

Competition is not always about price - it’s also about quality.
