What's everyone's favorite all-round bullet for .308 win deer ,hogs ,coyotes ( not worried about fur) target shooting. Dad wants 't me to load something up for his new AR10 but is old school and only wants one bullet and load to deal with. Don't have be the best just good ....
Doubt hell shoot past 200yd if that can't rember the twist rate on the barrel
So recommendations?

He’s a smart man! I have so much going on, that I feel I need to step back to one gun, and one bullet. If he’s not competing with it and keeping it under 800yds. I would go with the Hornady 168 BTHP. A shop owner I know who has shot and hunted with everything under the sun recommends this for reliable expansion compared to the SMK. If expansion isn’t a concern, then the 168 SMK.

If he plans to shoot beyond 800yds, then the Berger Hybrid 168, and if you want cheaper, SMK 175 or Hornady 178 ELDM/ELDX.

The Sierra 150 Grain Pro-Hunter (flat base) with IMR 4064 or Varget is the best hunting bullet I ever used for similar distances and critters mentioned in your post albeit with in 10" twist bolt rifles. The is an economical bullet that is capable of sub 1 moa accuracy in a quality rifle and in the hands of skill shooter.

The 125 grain Sierra Pro-Hunter is another bullet I used with success and might be another economical and effective option. Also excellent for reduce recoil loads with IMR 4895.

I would try a 155gr hpbt match bullet. My bulk 308 ammo(bolt action) is 165gr Speer spbt. Did surprisingly well at the 600yd berm with a random load.

165gr SGK, that said I don't use a 308 for anything over 200 yards and my go-to has always been a 200gr RN.

The 165 was my got to for MS matches.

I like Winchesters' 150 grain Power Point. Also, liked their old Silvertip 150 grain but it is no longer available. :( Both worked fine in my .308 rifle.

SMK 168 gr...Love'em to death
Used them in my CMP AR-10 match rifle.
Shot really well.
Maybe over kill for your application but they sure group well at 200 yds.

Ok he asked me to ask y'all this, if he wanted something that would go on dump all its energy and no exist wound what would y'all run. I told him it's gonna be some kinda varmint bullet

Well, you might try the Barnes or the Hornady CX monolithic copper bullets in 110 gr.
Below is data from Hodgdon’s site for the Barnes, and the CX will likely mirror the performance. Accuracy would need to be established for sure.
