Filming targets, Cameras ?

2300 is a far as I've done.
It's a whole lot more difficult than a mile.
Like you said, first round impact on a mile target is pretty much expected. For us, that's on a standard IPSC.

On a larger targets the conditions have to be pretty crappy or like the conditions at the last match, where they were switching very quickly from 10:00-2:00.
With the winds being 8-15 with gusts to 25, well, it got a little sporty.
I set up a permanent 2300 target this spring at one of my spots.
26” x 26”
Definitely a challenge across a steep valley.

I have an older Caldwell camera system that has its own WiFi. I used it before I got a Shot Marker. Set up the camera down range on a tripod with a repeater, iPhone/ipad logged in to the receiver and you see the image. Worked pretty good. I think I paid $150 for it used. I need to put it in the classified here.

I picked up a Scopemate last year to mess around with, it is a cheaper alternative to a trigger cam. They have a newer generation version out, but I don't use it enough to really warrant the next gen.

It works well with its app for what it is and the distances you refer to.

600yds, generally it is recommended to back off the magnification some but I went full send to see how it would render.. Not too bad considering some quality is lost uploading file size to YT

I suspect that the target cameras use LoRa, rather than wifi to make the connection - as does Shotmarker. There's more and more LoRa devices coming onto the market and it should be fairly simple to assemble a camera system together. I did a brief search on YouTube and found plenty of content. I believe that there are also some mobile phones that have a peer to peer function ( more research needed on that one).

I did buy a camera, a few years ago that would transmit directly to my IPad - but the app stopped functioning on a later operating systems.

I use my cell phone mounted on my spotting scope quite a bit while shooting. Easy to take videos and when you're by yourself it sure helps spotting shits when you loose them in the scope when actually firing the rifle.

Weather conditions and actual target distance will determine the quality of the video. Sometimes the bullet trace clearly visable and other times not so much. Here's a couple of videos at a couple of different distances to give you an idea of the picture quality on a good day.

To get a little clarification, ..... are you wanting to view an up close image or an image like looking through a spotting scope?
More like an image though a spotting scope.. prefer tho have the camera next to me and not down range.... especially if I'm at the public range
