New Rifle and Bog DeathGrip Tripod Worked Well

I decided to take a new rifle into the chuck fields over the weekend, along with a new Bog DeathGrip Tripod. The duo worked very well together. Most shot's were seated either on rocks or a portable lawn chair. A few shots were standing. Closest shot was 85 yards and longest was 212 with 100% accuracy. Amazing how stable the DeathGrip is compared to the shooting sticks and standard tripods I've used over the years.

Rifle is a custom 204 Ruger with a Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 MOA 2. The chucks were not out in typical numbers in the properties visited. This is likely due to the unseasonably warm weather recently.

The bog pod is great 3rd season now using mine, nice rig and caliber, how's the Sightron I love the moa reticle, how much would you say it covers the target at 250,to 300 yards. Floating dot is the only way to go for varmint hunting, inmo.I'm looking at the S111 long range.

I have three Sightron scopes with the MOA 2, including an SIII 8-32x56. I have three other's with either mildot or duplex. They are very good scopes for the money. As you mentioned, the floating dot is very nice and the shot at 212 was barely covering the chucks nose with a lot of the head visible around the sides.

One of my best GH days was between about 7:00 and 8:30 in the evening. They may wait till it cools off. It’s light almost till 9:00 now. I usually head home around 4 but I stayed longer because the field was never hunted and I knew surrounding fields had a lot of GH. Good Luck shooting.

I saw 20 gh's in 100 degree heat index last Saturday, between 9 am and 5 pm,so in some areas it doesn't make a difference. However, as I mentioned, windows of opportunity to shoot were short, usually less than 2 minutes. Had I stayed during the later cooler times, things may have changed. Anytime you can take a dozen gh's in 100-degree heat, somehow I'd say things came together.

That guy in the picture need to find a better dentist, for sure. Sightron STac line performs way above the price, I have 5 of them.
