Powder Valley primers on sale

I'm guessing the supply chain must be getting overly stuffed. Mag Tech primers were recently on sale for $50. Winchester #41 on sale for less than $50. Meanwhile, most big name outlets are still charging from $80 to over $100. I wouldn't mind buying another 20k, but I'm willing to wait and see if the prices get down to $40.

Ordered some large magnum CCI's from Powder Valley last week, 14/50 failed on a full custom MPA build that runs flawlessly. Maybe there is a reason they are on sale..

I was looking for Remington 71/2 primers, Natches @ $74.99, Midway, $87.99, Hyda's $71.99, Powder Valley, $65.99, Precision, $86.13, Target Sports, $84.00....Powder Valley right now is $65.99. I would not use Magtech primers if they were free.

I was curious about the Magtech primers and did a search on here of past threads. Some pretty respectable members were getting along with them well.

What experience did you have with them?
I was given some of their ammo once and was not impressed. I have no reason to try them when I know what works for me. Remington 7 1/2 and Fed ar m's for what I'm shooting now. I got cci 450's 400's and some 41's that I have never had a dud with. I have seen people with bolt guns have misfires though ,but my rifles don't seem to have a problem with 41's. I'm not saying magtech's are bad, just don't need them.

I'm in a similar position. I have load data using Fed GM, CCI, and Rem primers. I don't really want to add MagTech to the mix. If I were burning through blasting ammo right now, it would be worth buying a few to see how they run. Unfortunately, all of my reloading efforts are currently focused on hitting little rodents at 200-600 yds. If I needed them, I'd spend the extra $10-$15 per thousand to buy CCI just to avoid having to potentially rework any of my load data. Still, the fact that they are available from brownells for $40 is a good sign. I don't expect or even want them to get down under $30 again (at least not for the big 3), but if those can get down to $40 price range, that would be a reasonable price. A little less would be even better, but too much lower would be bad for the industry. We are very fortunate to have a couple of new primer manufacturers, especially with one of them being domestic. If they go belly up, the next time things go loco, we'll find ourselves up a creek again with much less of a chance of ever finding a paddle.

Me thinks demand has wavered and the blood suckers have inventory on their shelves…. I like this environment a lot more. Now, if people will keep their wits about them maybe we can see more “normalized” prices. On primers, powder and bullets… we ve been getting it stuck to us!!

Hang tough fellas.

I suggested that we shouldn't buy the stuff when it was going up, but no one listened! An 8 pound jug of powder shouldn't be over $150 I still have some with price tags that say $108!

Joe Salty
I would love to buy some of that $150 for 8 pound powder or the afore mentioned $69.95 Rem 7 1/2’s…. Think $195…!!
Even some domestically made 7mm projectiles are costing over $1.30 @ and if you want and can find Bergers expect to see them about $1.65 or more… {:~(
How about some $946 for 8lb of some Vihtavuori…???
