Lapua 6GT brass

Even less here.

problem is I'm sure they are all subject to change depending what the final price is from Lapua.

I've often thought of building myself a 6GT, but with several 6 Dashers, a 6x47, and a couple of very accurate 6XCs - I have to ask myself why build another rifle and have to invest in dies & brass, especially with the 6x47 being so close to the GT? If I didn't have the Dashers & the 6x47, I'd probably jump on the GT bandwagon.
I hear ya. Winter is here and I usually get the itch to build a new rifle in a new chambering. I wish I hadn't tried out the 6xc cause now I dont see the added benefit vs expense and hassle ( esp. nowdays) to get a GT or 6xAnything. I always wanted a Dasher but barrel life is similar to 6xc and the least savings in component expense anymore is a few dribbles less powder.
I was thinking of getting a new barrel with a twist to shoot 85's instead of the 115's but damm the 85's shoot better than I can thru the 8T I have for the 115's.
Maybe I'll get a shotgun! hah

Which of the GT’s you like best?

I'm sorry, I missed this somehow...

Best? That's a toughy. I built the 6mm first then the .22 and lastly the 25. But I find that it's difficult to pick one over the other since they all shoot great but I use them for different reasons. I suppose that I might suggest the 6mm since it will cover most of what can be accomplished by either of the other two.

:)

which maker for the 85 grain bullets?

which maker for the 85 grain bullets?
these are magic. they started making them again

$150 / 100 .... yikes.
Speed cost money…. How fast do you want to go…???
Cheap gets you what you pay for… Most quality brass is in this price range and especially current favorites…
I think you will need to be quick to secure the first release and may wind up waiting till next year for the next lot to be manufactured as adding a new line of brass is expensive and takes manufacturing time from standard lines so often lesser lines only get made one a year.
When they are gone then it is time to wait… I have been waiting for more ADG 7-6.5PRCW for nearly a year and it is just once again showing up now.

Well it does actually exist, just taken delivery. Interestingly the head stamp looks very light, almost as if it's been laser engraved.
Will you let me know what a loaded round measures?

Funny, you have your brass and nobody within the entire Nammo group could tell me this.

I will once I load some up. I need to get a rebarrel organised now.

I'm in sunny England, I just happened to see some in stock and got it ordered. I had some on backorder from the importer but hadn't even heard back back from them. Just gathering all the components before getting a new barrel.

I was under the impression from my limited reading that the 6GT was easier to load and more beginner reloader friendly? I've seen a lot of threads mentioning that the 6x47 lapua was very finicky. Keep in mind I own neither of these cartridges, but I'm currently doing my research for a 6mm cartridge for deer and plinking and the 6gt with Lapua brass might sway me to give it a go.

Here is a video that may help explain…
The 6GT came about to get Dasher performance that would feed from a magazine.
The 6XC and 6 Creedmoore will drive them fast and hard with the trade off of shorter barrel life…

I'm content with Alpha. I can get it for under $110 / box.
That’s cool, I do have a question and that is, I have seen several articles talking about needing to have an “Alpha” chamber for the brass to “play nice”…
Have you found that to be the case ?
I don’t have a dog/horse in this race but do have a friend that has recently started to campaign a 6GT and he is having terrific results in F Open running Sierra 110’s.
Which leads me to consider the next barrel on my 6BR to be moved up to 6GT, especially since Lapua is making brass for it. Just wondering if Peterson or ADG will get on board.

Peterson has GT brass. I just bought 300 pieces of it. They have their specs right there on the website for every lot of brass they’ve ever made. I wanted to run the Lapua but if they can’t get case specs out when people have brass in hand already then I’m not going to play.

I would recommend an Alpha Reamer for Alpha brass. I tried it in a GAP Reamer and had to turn the necks.

Thanks, I’ll have a look at Peterson’s site as it has been a while.. I’m running their 6BR brass and sold off all my Lapua.

Interesting, I had read that people had better results with the 107gr, the 110gr does look good on paper though. I think the bread all dried on what you can get locally and the price. Peterson and ADG is harder to get over here and more expensive than Lapua. I am waiting to see what the consensus is over reamers and Lapua brass before taking the plunge. Everything is slower, and more expensive over here to get done, so it pays to get it right first time.
