CZ 527 Trigger Question

I just picked up a 527 MTR in 223 that has a single stage trigger. Took several hours to figure out what I had. I played with it last night and could only go down to just over 2lbs. It is crisp with almost no creep. If I could get that around 14-18oz, would be amazing. Going to see if I can get the spring out and replace it. I saw on another forum someone did that. Any additional info would be helpful.
No appetizers or beer for 2 or 3 days, timney, all problems solved....

I am not sure why you would want one without the set trigger.

Like was stated above you can adjust the trigger to a single stage also which one of mine is. I prefer a single stage after I push the 2 stage forward its uncomfortable for me reaching my finger that far forward.
I'm sure its just a preference thing.
Changing out springs on a single stage makes the 527 really nice for less than a pound which I prefer.

Swapping the trigger pull weight spring in 527's is very simple and only takes a few minutes. Getting the factory spring out is the biggest trick because it's diameter is to large to be pulled out through the front, even with the adjuster screw removed, but it can be yanked out the back with a little effort. I have a set of picks similar to this https://www.grainger.com/product/2M...VMgGtBh0dkg6oEAQYASABEgLSSvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds and it made quick work of getting the old spring out. I bought a handful of trigger springs from James Calhoon a few years ago and replaced all of the trigger springs in every 527 I've ever had. If I recall James only charged something like two bucks per spring for them so it's a very inexpensive mod. and the spring from James is smaller in diameter so it'll go in through the threaded hole with the adjuster removed. With the spring from James you can adjust the trigger down about as low as you'd want. As I mentioned earlier I had one of mine around 8oz for awhile but prefer them in the 12-14oz range best and that's not using the single set feature. For me pushing the trigger forward to set it puts it in an odd location for me so I don't use it.

Timney doesn't list a trigger specifically for the 527's so are you guys with Timney's in your 527's using the one they have listed for the CZ 550?

As has been mentioned the factory 527 trigger is actually a pretty decent piece and with just a simple spring swap can make it tunable to about any pull rate you want. I'm all for using aftermarket triggers but with the CZ's I'm just not sure there is anything to be gained by swapping out only part of the trigger assembly that cost $160 versus a few dollars for a spring swap.

I have three CZ rifles with their Single Set Triggers. These are the only three rifles that I own with unmodified factory triggers.

Here is what the trigger on the 527 MTR looks like that is not the standard SST trigger. Can see the machine marks on it, so you know this thing is pretty new. It is simple, very few adjustments, but other than it is a little heavy, I really like it. We'll see how it goes.thumbnail.jpg

The set feature should go low enough for a hard breath to set it off.

I have a CZ 527 MTR in 6.5 Grendel. That has a single stage trigger in it. All the other 527s I've owned have had the standard set trigger in them. Some of them, especially the early ones, came with twin set triggers.
Isn't the "standard set trigger" the single set trigger???

The 527 trigger is already a single stage trigger as you get it from the factory.

Did CZ ever produce a 527 without the set type trigger ? just a standard pull trigger ? Thanks in advance,
I've never seen a 527 without it and had several till some guys talked me out of two, here on this forum. My 527 now is set at 1 pound, and it's incredible. I had an 8oz at one time, but I prefer 1 pound.

One pound on the main trigger is pretty good of a weight, at least for varmint shooting.

Don’t really know, I’ve been looking at a replacement, I’ve changed springs, took the set out.. still lot to my liking…

:p:D
Trigger is only thing I have changed…;)
I was referring only to the trigger. It has the same adjustments as a fully adjustable trigger on any other rifle, which is more adjustments than most adjustment limited triggers of today. If you have changed springs and adjusted the trigger and you find issues with it, then there is something else wrong, but it is not the trigger.
