Pennies will be History......

I'm not sure why you say we're a cashless society?

I know there are a number of place I use only cash. I may be old fashioned, but I don't pay for anything using my phone. I will on my computer, but not my phone. I agree that less is done with cash now, but those armored trucks still travel with a lot of cash going somewhere.
I didn't sat it's a cashless society. I said we're already paying for a cashless society no matter if you're aware of it or not.

Gold...how long has it been great for trading?

What is a debit card?

And cash??? I keep that in my money clip....
Gold. Yeah, I'll just take a bite if I get desperate.
Maybe some cash will make it more palatable.

Ain't worth nothin' in and of itself. Just a perceived value that only functions if the other party believes it's valuable as well.

And 'gold shares' on paper. Whoo-Hoo! I'm rich!!!

Ok.

I am only 42 years old and still pay with cash. Every single bill i pay is with a check. Just the way i was raised. I do have a debit and credit card but prefer cash. 4 years ago i was in my bank to order more checks. It dumbfounded the banker since i have free online bill pay. I had to explain how it keeps jobs, hers was to help me, then post office to send and someone on other end to open it. I got deer in headlight look. It has saved my moms job for several years. She has to get the mail at her work, open everything and distribute to where it needs to go. Her company has had large layoffs last 2 years. She has been told she is safe since the other positions went overseas. They cant open mail over there yet. I know i pay more to do this but damn it people need jobs. Not everyone gets the high paying jobs they dream of. As for the pennies, while i dont care much for them i still pick up every one i see.

On the penny deal I thought we had some old threads on getting bad rust off of blued barrels with the old pure copper penny. I thought it was a 60’s or earlier date that had enough copper in it, I saved one back somewhere.

Don't know if its the PO or the company I sent the check to, but it seems like its taking a couple of weeks before my check comes to my bank. Course, the company wants to charge me a late fee. Makes me wonder if they just let stuff sit till the due date has come and gone. Might have to start tracking the envelope to just see when it got to where I was mailing it. See if its the PO or the receiving company taking so long

Getting hit with the fee is probably correct. I didn't expect for them to take the card either time, but my wife like to travel and we get miles, and i'll ask next time too..

I know the miles is not the greatest investment, but it's something, and we get lots of miles. So, everything possible goes on the card.
I used to run quite a bit of expenses a year on mine for company business. It was a pretty good return on the cash back….

Then that ended when the company provided me a credit card.

I have a 30 something friend that sold me a shotgun on a whim last year. I offered him cash on the spot. When I gave him the cash he kind of looked at it and told me that cash was a real PITA. He had to carry it around, or go to a bank someplace. I told him to just put it in a jar and spend it a little at a time. He uses plastic for everything. Just like the Chinese. I have lost so much respect for the average American. Overall a worthless group of people who have given up so much freedom and liberty to the bureaucrats. The ultimate goal for most of us is to live a of convenience with as little responsibility as possible. Perhaps that's why we owe close to a trillion dollars in credit card debt. Like my long departed grandmother always said. "Freedom and liberty ain't nothing but a bunch of people talking about nothing" :D

When I walked into the dealer to pick up my new truck in 2019, I had my down payment in an envelope.
It was $19,000 cash that was paid to me from a young guy that came from several states away to purchase my older truck. When I handed the cash down payment across the table, they looked at me like I just kicked them in the crotch!! For a minute, I thought that they weren't going to accept it.

Seems eventually if credit card companies do not spend they will eventually own all the money through transactions. That being said, every purchase on an Amazon card for rewards every month of Amazon purchases or turned to Lowe's gift cards and the like. So, I'm part of the problem. I always have cash on hand at home but rarely on me unless it's a premeditated purchase with cash. Sign of the time. Eventually, our foreheads or our hand will be scanned to complete transactions. Fulfilment of the Word.

POST OFFICE is the biggest money pit around. Save the POST OFFICE forget it.

What will happen to the pennies people have tossed in jars. Will they still be worth one cent a piece to turn in or will they turn into worthless slugs?
Ya know we would'nt be in this mess if people would have never thrown
them in cans and jars and kept them out of circulation. Or maybe it was
a good thing after all.....LOL.

I thought $50's were legal tender until Mc Donald's refused to take one. Too much counterfeiting going on she said....in a town of 5,500....WTF. Employees not qualified to check the strip or use the marking pen????. Just like the charges on credit cards, one does it, they all will follow.

I pretty well go to Kwik Star if I want a samwich now, screw Mc Screw. Cheaper too...
