Anyone use an LER TE-20H on a Kowa 88

I just recieved a new Kowa TSN88A. Unpacked it and went to a match. Great scope. However I’m trying to start shooting with glasses on. Works fine through my rifle scope but just cannot close enough on the spotter. I’m going to play with it some more this weekend, but wondering if anyone has used the TE-20H? It has about double the eye relief, but is fixed power at 25X. I could add the 1.6X multiplier, but both pieces are another $750 (does it end). Any experience? I may just take the glasses off.

You have the best spotting scope that can be used from position. I considered the 99 model but it was too big and bulky to use alongside my match rifle. I started with the TE-20H but after a while, I bought the new TE-80XW and it immediately became my favorite eyepiece. It's on the spotting scope all the time. The image, along with its price, is breathtaking. I can see everything that's going on when shooting. It gives me all the date, it's up to me to interpret it properly and adjust my aim accordingly.

To me, the Kowa 88x and the 80xw is the best combination for F-class. The spotting scope is for observation, not aiming. If find the 20h to be way too restrictive in its FOV.

Thanks, but my question is about eye relief and spotting with glasses on. Kowa lists the TE80XW as having the same 17mm eye relief as the 25-60

I guess I didn’t make my point clearly enough and that's on me. Let me try again. The TE-20H is useless for observation regardless of eye relief. If you're only interested at looking at your target or a specific flag, then by all means, but if you want to observe and read conditions, the TE80Xw is the bee's knees, the sine qua non of observation spotters. I would suggest you read my latest post in the recent Majesta thread.

I had the same problem. I coach using the LER eyepiece because I have to wear my glasses to see the flags at the target, vision is to blurry to see that far out for small changes. It works great reading mirage. You will probably see 2-3 targets less with it than the WA EP but on our range if I remember correctly,I can seen 8 targets. That is enough info to make a call and I can still wear my glasses to see all the flags.

How I decided between the two was, I went to the range and compared my WA EP with a friends LER. Moving between the two. It was an easy decision. Try comparing and decide for yourself

I think I know who you are. You shoot with glasses don’t you?

Well, since my signature is on every one of my posts, I would hope that you know who I am. I wear glasses but in a way that allows me to be very close to my spotting scope.

I use that set up for shooting…… like you I started with the zoom eyepiece, but soon realized I needed more eye-relief…… you don’t need higher magnification for reading conditions . Get the 25x eyepiece and you’ll be fine.
