New eyepiece for a Kowa TSN-82 and TE-17HD

I've been wanting a spotting scope and finally got one. A Kowa TSN-82 with a TE-17HD eyepeice.

I was using it a few weeks ago and was having a hard time seeing the bullet holes at 100 yards. I was also having difficulty with eye relief, probably because I wear glasses.

What are the alternatives?

Thanks!

The target location and backing board can greatly affect your ability to see bullet holes. For example, one range I use faces west. In the morning the targets are lit up and I can see everything. In the evening, the sun is on the horizon near the targets and I have a hard time seeing the holes when looking at an MR-31 target.

Another range I use faces south. Those targets are hard to see in the morning/early afternoon. I have an easier time seeing the holes in the evening. Although it is in a shaded area and harder to see at any time. In that instance, I try to have a little room between the target and backer so I can see the holes a little better. If that fails, I break out the 20-60X eyepiece on the 883 Prominar.

I had the same set up and the 17HD is the 25X long eye relief. I wear glasses and have no problems using it.

long eye relief eye piece .
99% Target Shooters use them .
shooter you should always wear glasses .
Bi-focal lens will be a problem to work with ?

100yds should be a chip shot for a spotter of that quality. If you'd said 300yds+ in less-than-ideal light, I wouldn't have been surprised.

If yours is the 25x eyepiece you shouldn't have trouble seeing holes at 100 yds although 22 cal. holes can be a challenge especially if they're in the shade.

Take the rubber cup off the TE-17HD. You should have plenty of eye relief despite your eye glasses. You can buy a shorter protective cover from Kowa to use in place of the cup. It will protect the eyepiece lens and still allow the eye relief you need.

Depending on where your 100 yard venue is, whether your own or a public or private range and if you would be permitted to utilize one, perhaps a target camera system.
