Good afternoon everyone just a quick question I think I have my answer but always have room for more ideas lol
Reason for my question is I have looked through other posts and everyone is going with 65 and heavier bullets ,so here we go
I have had a custom 223 ai for about 20 years setting in my cabinet I bought from a fella .
It’s a Remington 40xbr action shilien barrel McMillan stock and a jewel trigger from what I can remember low round count.
So since the other day I got to thinking about it and dug it out got a scope threw on it and headed to the bench.
Now the load he gave me was 26.3 grains of h 322 with a 52 grain fb Barnes bullet
So I started at 25.5 then 26 then 26.3 with a gentner 52 gr fb bullet
Shoots little better with the 25.5 load maybe I’m using a different primer then he was not sure as he has pasted away 15 years ago.
Now I have a savage 223 I use 28.5 grains of varget with same gentner bullet
Would the 28.5 be a good starting load for the ai gun I’m sure I could put more in it but just looking for some advice on a starting point which I think would be 27.5 or 28 grains?
So thanks for any advice ahead of time
Scott
