NORMA TAC 22 vs BROWNING PRO 22

Okay, I am shooting on a budget and I emphasize budget.
I have a CZ 457 MTR and havei been shooting NORMA TAC 22 with satisfactory results.
Now I am considering BROWNING PRO 22 as possible option.
Has anyone tried BROWING PRO 22 and what is your opinion?

Tried it.... 3 different guns (10/22, 541X, 581). For me it's no better than Rem Thunderbolt. I'll stick with Eley and old Wolf ME.

I haven't shot the TAC-22 all that much. But that that I have shot has been more than satisfactory. I bought a brick of the Wolf only because the guy who sold me my 513-T told me that Wolf was the most accurate in that rifle for him. I intend to shoot the two side-by-side to see how much difference individual shooting skills make~!

If the results you are getting satisfy you and fit your budget why change? My CZ 457 MTR does not shoot Tac 22 to my satisfaction, however, I am comfortable with SK Rifle Match in my rifle, sub 0.5" at 50 yards and sub 1.0" at 100 yards. To be competitive in the competition I shoot I need Lapua Center X, however. As others have stated and I agree the Browning ammunition will probably not come close to giving you the results you are getting from Tac 22. Have you tried Norma Match? It is made on the same machines as Tac 22 but tests more consistently, but also costs more. Good luck.

I was referring to Browning Pro. TAC 22 shoots decent for its price range (actually above its price point).

I just sent some browning pro back to winchester to be checked out.
it shot pretty bad in a couple of rifles.
they were very helpful and apologetic right off the bat and wanted to refund my money.
very nice to deal with.

TAC 22 is the next step up after bulk ammo... Then try some SK, with Rifle Match being the best.

Anything else is similarly marginal to the Browning Pro 22.

Norma Tac has been far better than my SK Plus. If you want a little extra Go Norma Match, I am really liking Norma TAC though at the price point.
I am still using WOLF (Eley now) Match, not match extra also.
I'd stick with Tac or move to the Norma Match if it were me.

None of the replies to the OP's question have mentioned how much any of the ammo brands & grades mentioned will vary from lot to lot. It's just a fact of life when it comes to 22RF ammo - even if you can find Lapua Center-X or Midas+ or even their top-of-the-line X-Act - which costs over $29/box of 50 - the variation between different lot numbers of RF ammo will still be more of a factor than the brand or grade. So when I see someone write that "my rifle likes this brand & grade of ammo", it just makes it obvious that they're overlooking the importance of finding a lot that shoots well in their rifle or handgun.

I built my 1st precision 22RF rifle on a Stiller 2500XR action & a Krieger bbl that I'd fitted & chambered with an EPS reamer in 2016, and at that time (pre-covid), I could call any of several suppliers and buy 2 box lot samples of any grade of SK or Lapua ammo - unless they were about to run out of the last shipment - and lot test here at home. I recall going through at least a dozen different lots of Center-X before finding a lot that shot really great in my new custom rifle - and because I'd been busy with farm work and waiting on decent conditions with mild winds - by the time I finally got a chance to test and found out how good that lot was, there was no more of it available at any of the suppliers I called. By that time, other shooters who were lot testing had found out how good that lot was, and had bought it all up. So, if it sounds like finding really good RF ammo is a bit of a crap shoot, it's because that's exactly how it works. In the last year, I've been fortunate enough to find a couple of good lots of SK's low-end Std+ that I bought blind - without testing. It was simply luck, so you won't hear me telling anyone that "my rifle likes SK Std+". Paying double or triple the price for a higher grade of Lapua is no assurance that you're going to find a lot of ammo that's going to shoot great in your rifle - the lot-to-lot variation is still going to be a factor. Paying a premium price for a higher grade should reduce the chances of buying a 'stinker' of a lot, but if I were set on buying the best ammo for one of my rifles, I'd call one of the Lapua Ammo Test Centers, or an Eley Test Center, and get an appointment to lot test my rifle. The last time I did that with one of my Vudoo rifles that I'd barreled, I wound up getting a couple of cases of a very good lot of Center-X. But at that time, all it took to get an appointment to test was a phone call. Last time I checked, there was a 6 month wait to get an appointment. Good luck...

Makes no difference whether you're shooting lower-priced ammo like Norma TAC 22 or not - you still need to find a lot# that shoots to your rifle's potential. A couple of years ago when Norma's TAC 22 & Match were just coming available, I bought a half-case of TAC & a couple bricks of Match, then a few months later, bought more of each, getting different lots by then. I saw some difference in the accuracy of the newer lots, just as I expected. Never did get around to calling Norma to see if there was a way to order lot samples, but if they offered the chance to do so, that would be the way to find what works best in the OP's MTR. I've got a nice Anschutz 1712 that didn't shoot worth a hoot with one of the better lots of SK Std+, but did a lot better with SK Rifle Match, and also liked Norma TAC 22 better than the SK Std+. As far as I know, the Norma 22RF ammo is simply re-branded RWS from Germany - perhaps that's why my 1712 shoots the budget Norma better than the SK? Anschutz North America imports RWS ammo - maybe there's a reason for that...
