What will this do for the price of the Coopers of Montana manufacture?
I'm glad I got the Coopers I got when I did

I don't care how well they shoot. I would not want any of the modern interpretations of the 1911, including Nighthawk, just dismissing them all as "pimp guns".They sure are proud of their 1911's. How much better than a Springfield will they shoot?
I have a few, maybe four. I am wondering if I should get another. There are more than a few of the made in Montana rifles around at decent prices (compared to the Nighthawk prices). Buy 'em now before they are all locked away in someone else's stash.
Glad that I have a few.
I figured that I was done and didn’t “need” another one. Then I came across (on this forum) a beautiful little Custom Classic in 223 in excellent condition. I didn’t need a 223 but the rifle itself was too much to resist and turned out to shoot as nice as it looked. I’m pretty happy with the decision I madeI have a few, maybe four. I am wondering if I should get another.

I have two Cooper rifles.....a Montana Varminter in .222 Remington (yes, ".222") and a 57M in .17 HMR. Love them both. Bought the .17 HMR after I had a great experience with them getting that .222 re-barreled by them. And I even drove it from my home in Calgary Alberta to their factory in Stevensville Montana. Both shoot fantastic tight groups. Sad to see the "small" rifles disappearing from their offering. As suspected the days of small caliber Coopers is history. Even if still offered, at current prices it is cheaper to go the custom route.

Yes, and they all shoot well....very well. Those were all Wilson barrels btw.
Friday March 21th: guy who reads and answers email perplexed by the sudden influx of questions about the "antique", "old people rifles" that they have absolutely no plan to manufacture, or to even respond to email about them.I sent an email to NH asking them if they plan to produce the beloved rifles we've all come to love and covet and not just big boomers of no interest to small caliber varmint shooters. I can guess the response, but had to ask anyway.
Regretabily, I only have four of the Montana built Cooper rifles; two M38's and two M21's. Had I known ahead of what NH was about to do to the revered Cooper brand, I would have purchased at least one more, but will NOT be adding a NH built rifle.
I know I'm not alone in lamenting the loss of the MT rifles, now being substituted by 'tacticool' replacements. But it just amazes me just why NH would abandon what was a sought after product and 'replace' them with thier version of what they think the shooting public actually wants, when it's obvious "we" do not. Stunning what they've done with an excellent and beloved product.....just stunning.
One of my most-used and loved Coopers, my M38 20VarTarg, purchased from "Scootertrash" (Mike Montgomery) here on AS just before his passing years ago. He made me promise to give it a good home, and I honestly think Mike would approve of the life I've given the rifle, now affectionatly named "Scooter" for the way it 'scoots' the sage rats and rockchucks.
Of all the possible outcomes for our beloved Cooper rifles, I'm truly sad that the product went to die at the hands of Nighthawk Custom.
Many and maybe most, but not all. Cooper had a few barrel vendors throughout the years. Those were all Wilson barrels btw.
My 17 Remington M21 Varmint Extreme has a factory Shilen barrel. Many and maybe most, but not all. Cooper had a few barrel vendors throughout the years.
I guess they plan for us to die off.Yes, and they all shoot well....very well.
I wonder what barrels NH is using now, as I was under the impression that Cooper had acquired Wilson barrels. The answer would seem obvious, but with NH at the helm, who the h3ll knows?

One more thing us older guys will miss now lost into the mists of time.
