I traded for a sizable amount of Berger bullets. The item that I traded made it to the other party just fine. The bullets that I was supposed to get were delivered to someone else that had a similar address several miles from me. Those fine folks refused to acknowledge that they received them when my postal carrier(that delivered to the wrong address) confronted them. I was left to submit a claim which was denied several times by the PO even though they acknowledged that they delivered to the wrong address!! WTF!
I was close to “going postal” myself. They don’t make it easy to contact someone on the phone but after many tries and finally getting someone on the phone with a brain, I was finally issued a check. It took over a month total. I was about ready to just accept the loss.

USPS lost my postal money order, it took a month after I filed a claim report to get the full amount. 3 months later, the money order shows up. I wonder where it was all that time?

Lose things and make excuses, apparently.
Read in my news feeds yesterday that 10,000 are being forced into retirement. Those are probably mostly comprised of the people who knew what they were doing, so I'd strongly recommend avoiding any USPS interaction whenever possible.

I work in a freight warehouse for a large company these days. We get packages daily that look like they fell off the truck at highway speeds. No explanation. Their website shows it's delivered. Empty, broken, mangled, whatever.
Nice.
They accept it as-is and reorder. Throw away the damaged goods.

We had a vindictive postmaster in our little town about 6-8 years ago. One of my best friends became a target to her scorn because he had rented some farmland across the road from her house. She (LOST) his credit card bills and health insurance bills, and a sizable check from a local business sent to him. We all knew she was destroying his mail but couldn't prove it. He called his Congressman and got two separate investigations launched on her. Her supervisor and friend, covered for her and nothing happened but a reprimand. Later when her tried to transfer to another office they refused to hire her and she (retired).

Honestly, the business model of the USPS is no longer valid.
Hate to say it, but that method of communication is akin to AOL in the early '90s. Or Blockbuster video.
That time has passed.
They attempted to move into package delivery and have proven to be completely inept at that as well.
Stick a fork in the USPS. It's done.

I will go to extreme lengths to avoid using USPS. Sometimes you have no choice but I have asked venders to please ship another way, FedX or UPS even if I have to pay double. It's just not worth the hassle as to where and when a package will arrive. Most of the time the vender will help you out with shiping another way. Also getting to know your mail person is a good idea. We got a new mail person, a women, and she is really nice and goes out of her way to make sure things go right on her end. Good Luck!

No idea what the ratio of contracted to union employees is. But if it's forced retirement, then no matter what the specific situation is, there goes your experience.
My experience with a labor union has been negative. Apparently, the labor union I'm familiar with has completely forgotten why labor unions were formed to begin with as they are literally distributing a proposal for 12 hour work days with no overtime pay involved.
Now, if you make that choice, it's a personal choice. If your union forces that upon you, ..... WoW.
Many do not understand. Under union contracts your opinions for recourse are very limited and must be taken up by the union.
If they chose to not pursue it, you have one recourse. Quit.
Not a great option when you're 28 years in on a 30 year retirement situation.

What the big deal about the firings of USPS today? My Sister was fired by the Clinton administration from her job in the USPS back then. She was a higher up at one of 6 financial offices in the US. She was located in St Louis. The office was closed. She said her co-workers thought nothing of it and looked for another job. My Sister became the Postmaster at the St Charles, MO post office. I believe she was in charge of 350 employees.

Government is obese, thin the herd, deal with it. It's not quantity, it's quality.
