Probably the hardest chamber I've done. 300 WSM with a long freebore. Had to keep wax paper around the top of the body for every cut or it would get squirrely. In the end it sure turned out nice and I'm glad Dave turned us on to taking photos like this.

Having only chambered one barrel I still have lots to learn, what's the wax paper for?
It keeps the reamer centered , but will cut slightly oversized, while the 6 flute reamer gets deflected from the 5R flutes. Several multi-page threads here about 5R/Chambering in general. Happy to discuss privately.

I had trouble with a brand new 300prc Mason reamer and a carbon proof barrel chattered almost the whole way that was the first one for me in 100 barrels boy does it sux too

The picture sums up just about everything that's important in a chamber. Concentric, freebore sufficiently large enough to clean up the lands. If the throat looks like that then everything behind it is also correct. You can't get one without the other.
Using a watchmakers 3.5X or 4X loupe will let you see the surface finish on the leade. I've consulted with several manufacturers and I always leave a loupe with the guy doing the work. I have another company coming in next week and I have two loupes waiting for him. They have different focal lengths. One for SA rounds and one for LA rounds.

Thanks for the info, I have much to learn. My mentor told me to stay away from 5R because of the chatter problem. Seems like someone needs to make 5 fluted reamers.
