Does anyone still shoot service rifle?

Does anyone here still shoot service rifle? Where I am it has really dwindled in favor of the prone only disciplines. I ask because I have some service rifle gear I am contemplating selling but, if no one is doing it I don't want to spend the time taking pictures and listing the stuff.

What type of service rifle. I still have my M14 and AR-15 A2 but no one shots anything but an AR with a scope. So, my old rifles don’t mean much to any of the current SR shooters.

I can’t imagine anyone who is serious about XC SR competition using iron sights. Except maybe for fun.
When I used to shoot it...around 15-20 years or so ago, there were quite a few shooters....maybe 20-25 per match. I never saw anyone shooting anything except iron sights. I am not sure if the rules even allowed optics then on the service rifles...if so, no one around here did it.

There were guys that shot f-class (or the pre-cursor to our current f-class) and those that shot OTC service rifles...both m-14s and ARs. The COF was 200 yard offhand SF, 200 yard kneeling / sitting RF, 300yard prone RF and 600yard prone SF.

Now my club has essentially gone to prone only mid-range COFs and everyone shoots the AR-tac class in NRA high power. There are also a lot of people that shoot f-class but, that falls under a different set of rules.

EDIT: I just checked and it appears that NRA and CMP started allowing optics in 2016 in service rifle matches. That would have been about when I stopped shooting high power service rifles.

National Match Forum is a good place to list XTC items for sale. Has some restrictions if you have never posted there before but not too high a hurdle to cross.

Since 4.5x scopes became legal in 2016 the heavy float tube A2 style rifles are more used in games Unlimited Modern Military matches.

It's my view that Events tend to be very Regionaly driven. Here in Texas I have an easy time finding XTC & F-Class but minimal Prone, Palma, LR. In CA I had an easier Time Finding Prone & Long Range. Honestly, its probably more about networking and community building that keeps certain programs thriving better in different areas.

All but dead in the Colorado area. Not be stopped trying here. 5 people showing up to matches is depressing and not fun. On the other hand we have 50-100 people showing up for 1 day PRS matches.

We have a monthly CMP style match at my club, from April to October. There are around 20 shooters, with a mix of rifles from Garands to unlimited AR style bolt guns with scopes. I have some Garands and like to shoot them, so I shoot the matches with as issued M1's from the CMP. I do OK against the other M1's but get my ass kicked by guys shooting M1A's with scopes and AR's with scopes. I don't really care - I can still see the sites well enough to keep them in the black most of the time.

I would like to think so. I earned my distinguished badge when there were only iron sights in CMP matches. Today, they allow optics and scores have gone up.... Now, I shoot F class because I'm not in good enough physical condition to shoot across the course. I still have the X the course equipment but, will most likely, not ever use it again. I loved it during the many years I participate in service rifle competition! I am a bit sad that optics were introduced but, I do understand why...

????????????? plenty of XTC on the liberal side, CRC, Buffalo Creek and Cheyenne.

Our club rotates Garand, Springfield (or other WW II), AR & LR monthly May through July. (Relaxed practice for Perry). SW Ohio.
