Be sure to sneak up on the that thread pitch dia. What is the tenon diameter for muzzle brakes with this size
theards - when turning the barrel-what is the diameter to start
thanks for the help

Precisely!Pitch diameter is the critical measurement. Major diameter of external thread has a mile of allowance vs pitch dia. Invest in a set of thread micrometers.
Precisely!
And some Hardcore Machinists may dog this but I have a set of Shars thread pitch mic's
0.0001" resolution
And I have to say I was very impressed for their price
The thimble threads are smooth as silk with no play, tight, rough spots
Came with all necessary anvils for different pitch threads
Also agree, 3A for sureI have two of those. 0-1 and 1-2”. I cut every thread to pitch diameter. Once I get close I might start fitting things like 700 rems but in reality every thread I have cut and hit the pitch diameter on has fit properly. I traditionally try to work to 3A tolerances.
I shoot for .596, I've had a few muzzle devices not want to screw on at .5975.Be sure to sneak up on the that thread pitch dia.
I always shoot for 0.5975 (.5979 being max)
