Minimum barrel size for Savage PTA?

I need some advice from more experienced gun builders. Does a 1.25 diameter barrel have enough shoulder left after turning down a tenon for a Savage PTA with the large shank? And for future reference is there a formula to calculate a safe minimum shoulder. Thanks

Yes it's enough . I assume your going nut less?
1.25"
1.16"
.090 divided by 2 = .045 per side
Generally I go by what the nut diameter is .

Yes, going nutless. I figured 1.25-1.125=.125 divided to .0625 per side but didn't know if that was enough. 6mm 28" HV taper with .250 recoil lug.

i use 1.25" blanks with a barrel nut. the turned down tenon is no problem from what i see. i have a 30 inch straight pipe 1.25" 6BR Krieger hanging off just this installation. shoots awesome.

Going to try going nutless this time. I've done about a dozen with nuts but I'm trying to get more practice doing barrels with a shoulder.

Of course. That's probably the most common shank diameter for 1.35" actions like Rem 700's and Savages...
Bigger is fine, but adds weight.
