Helpful hint: Place your favorite adult beverage glass filled with Maker's Mark in the freezer about half hour before imbibing; it will take the experience to another level.I am not that old, eggs are ridiculous! Glad I have chickens producing my own. We share an affinity for Maker's Mark, accept no substitutes!
Yes Hoz we certainly are much alike. I’m right at retirement, still an Electrician at a local sawmill, not sure I’ll retire next year as I’m a compulsive buyer, a hoarder some might say. The cold weather broke it’s now 32 and sunny out so I’m gonna run out and use some expensive AA#9 and some expensive Montana hard cast bullets and assemble some very stout 10mm loads and head to the ranch for a little fun today. In case there’s any coyotes around my cows I’m bringing my 7-08 loaded with expensive VARGET LAPUA N BERGER N 210m.lol-You sound alot like me Wayne. I dont do and do the same things you do.. I am/was an electrician and always suspected you R a great guy. I think you live in a nicer place though (to me) so mabie i should move. Oh i have no GF as ive experienced and heard 1000 horror stories. You must do some Magic to keep her around! Honestly I dont care to much about what these reloading components cost cause like you Im old and its my hobby so i enjoy it while i can. But— if I cant get more of the stuff Ive been using that is what Ps me off and will get me to find something else as i just wasted much time and effort on it and now i have to start over. If i sell off any powder or bullets its for this one reason. If all i can get someday is some powder i wont be able to get more of for two years i probably will do it but ill sure try hard to do something else. When the weather gets nicer Im out at the range usually every day. then of coarse i get to load every day! I am one lucky Guy—- Take Care Pardner
ive been setting up my dillons last few days as theyve been in the corner a few years. Im preparing for putting some quantiy down range this spring. (pistol) been using that cheap ball powder for this- sure meters good. now as im old i like using the revolvers so i dont have to bend over and pick brass. 629 and old Python are my Faves—after reading that thread here on the lapua brass think i will break seal on a recent box and check it out. i 2 have jumped on the VV band wagon but have got a fair amount of the others to use up still. sometimes i think id like to sell all my bullets except the Bergers and cast but mabie ill take the others on a PD hunt or something and use up some Big $ hodgdon/imr ect in the bargain. i do need those cheap sierra 150 30-30 bullets and i think i got some cheaper hornady bullets for 45/70 i need to keep. always somethin cookin around here. whatever you do Be SafeYes Hoz we certainly are much alike. Hope you have a great day too

ive been using the VV powders to lately. used up a jug+ of N150 last year. Ive aquired VV powders for all rifles i have plus some pistol powders. still have some of the others i want to use up. reminds me when i look in the powder box. inless things change dont think ill be buying much hodgdon/imr though.Over the years I’ve used most of the major brands of powder, but mostly used IMR and Hodgdon. Last summer, when I was getting a little worried about my last 8# jug of 8208XBR being half used up, alot of the guys here recommended N-133 and N-135. I took their advice, and very glad I did. Since then I’ve acquired some N-140 and N-160. Pretty much covers a good variety of calibers. All 8 pounders for less than $300 each to my door, thanks to Bruno’s free shipping and free hazmat deals. I don’t even think about Hodgdon and IMR anymore.
i still got a few of those cci primers i paid 9.99 a thousand forThis wasn’t THAT long ago. But it sure seems like it. Time is relative I guess.
yes ive got some of that lately- lets hope VV doesnt double the $ to.Switched to VV N140 from Varget for my Dasher, excellent accuracy, good barrel life, no regrets at all…and $273 for 8# at Whidden.
The biggest that I have are my 45/70s and a 375 H&H but I keep it pretty cheap and pleasant using Trailboss, SR4759 and 5744. Accurate and low recoil with the bullets that I cast for them. Of those three powders the only one thats still available is 5744, but all three go a long way and I have plenty of them for now. I do wish that VV still made that powder that was similar to Trailboss. By the time I found out about it they’d already stopped offering it.The Largest Big Bore Rifle I now Own, is a 6.5 Creedmoor,.. gulping only,.. 43 grs of StaBall 65.
The Next One is, a 6 XC gulping, 40 ish grains of, StaBall 65 Powder,. w/ 107 & 108 gr. bullets.
After that is My, .22-250 and .223 Rem/ 5.56 ( they don't use, Much Powder, either ! )
My most Recent Rifle purchase is, a Marlin .30-30 that, gulp's only 31.7 gr's of IMR 3031 or, 31.8 grs of, Vhit N-140 that's easily,. 200 Shots,.. per Pound !
I 'm thinking that, My "Battery of Rifles" is, very AFFORDABLE,. about, "Gulping" Expensive, Gun Powder !
I still think about building, a 7 SAUM,.. "Some Day" for,. LR steel ,... Nahh, the Creed,.. IS,.. enough !!!
My Parents were from, the Greatest Generation ( Depression Era ) and,. taught Me,.. "Well",..
Waste NOT,.. Want,.. Naught !
Nope, gone. IMR 8208 was gone 3 minutes after the e-mail went out.I suspect all of the mentioned powders will be around for a long while…….at the prices I have seen and heard. I am like others VV gets my $, even with a tariff or not!
