6BR Norma Barrel Blank recommendations

I'm contemplating a 6BR Norma build for target shooting out to 300 yards, maybe the occasional 400-600 yards max, not a competitor.

I'm new to the cartridge, looking for barrel recommendations. I don't want to get too far down a fiddly rabbit hole, I'd like to keep this first one within SAAMI specs.

Thanks!

I would say krieger, .236 bore, 7" twist 5R. Mine currently is the same, except an 8" twist. When I shoot it out, i will do a 7" twist to shoot the heavier bullet. It absolutely hammers with 105 class now
My Krieger 6BRX 1 - 7 Tw. barrel works really well with the heavier class bullets and did well with the 95 gr. while blowing out brass. Did not work up a load with the 95 gr.

Kreiger, Bartlein, PacNor, and others are solid choices. If you're having a 'smith fit and chamber it, make sure he has a proven reamer that works for your needs.

If you're going with a pre-fit or nutted barrel, please do your homework. There's good stuff out there. And some truly nasty things. Bore scope images of the chamber and throat would be advisable before the barrel ships to you and payment is made.

Good shootin' :) -Al

I'm enjoying an NZ made Tru Flite 1-8. Started playing with 95g SMK last week and so far results are OK - can't wait to get them out to the longer ranges to see how they compare with the 107's. Up in the 2900's with a decent load of H4895 ( Sorry guys - I have a heap!) Alpha brass. Just bought some more, as there's no Lapua or Norma around.

I have had good results with 1:8 Benchmark barrels and on my second one in a No Turn {.272”} 6BR.
Just be sure that you smith is using a more modern 6BR NORMA chamber reamer rather than an old 6BR Remington one….
Ask me how I know about this…. That is why I have all my own reamers now, also means that each new chamber is just right for my brass without having to fire form/change resizing die settings with every new barrel. Look at a JGS spec/stock reamer…
