Weird Dents In New Lapua 6BR Cases

Brett, did you get into the bourbon last night? :p
Yessir i did
And I'd still try and shoot that brass to see if it ironed out.
I'm thinking a lil cream of wheat,
with the buckle below neck shoulder junction and blowing shoulders out to an improved cartridge makes a guy wonder what will happen.

I broke open a new box of Lapua 6BR brass to make up 100 new 30 BR cases, and found these two in the mix. This is a pretty violent dent.

If you find an issue like this with your LAPUA BRASS. Please contact us at: Support@capstonepg.com with your PART NUMBER , LOT NUMBER, PICTURES AND NUMBER OF CASES AFFECTED, PHYSICAL MAILING ADDRESS AND CONTACT INFORMATION. Our apologies for this inconvenience.

I wouldn't shoot them! Gas cut your chamber and you'll be sorry you did! Not worth 2 pieces of crap. I gave up sending bad cases back. My time is worth far more than the cost of few cases. By the time you figure packing them, shipping cost, gas to go to post office and your personal time, it's not worth it.
We only ask for samples back if we need to clarify the issue. Sending CLEAR PICTURES can often give us the information we need right off the bat.

Then go to Al Nyhus and let him show you the results of his having to uniform flash holes in all of his Lapua cases.
Don't you know the sky is falling.

The first two would probably iron out after the first shot, but the third one is a no-go for me.

All 3 of those are no go’s. The 2 on the left, the dent would probably iron out but the scratches you see go all the way through. They will rupture every time when forming a Dasher. I think it’s obvious the one on the right isn’t safe.

For everyone thinking these “problems” like this and the burrs around flash holes etc. are new… they are not. I’ve been messing with these cases since around 2010 and all of these issues were present then and have been since. Some boxes have none of the folds, some boxes have quite a few even in the same lot/batch. Does it suck that you don’t get every piece you paid for? Yes. Do I still think this is the best brass available? Yes.

I've worked in QC for awhile we done batch chks, usually the parts are moving so fast and u have to do 10 other jobs u really can't catch ething course this was a Japanese owned where I worked where your required to give 30 minutes a day, plus a string was attached to you by APS and whatever you could reach you had to do or it was moved closer so you could do it, stop watch and string

In my opinion, the last shipment received from Lapua, have the neck thickness reduced by approximately .0005 + or - .0002 from the last few years. I am to assume the shoulders may be thinner as well and when the brass shoulders are formed by folding in, causing the dents which are at a weak spot. There are many that are showing the folding dent. Do not fire them. When I hydro-form them at 50.000 PSI, they always rupture at the folding dent spraying hydraulic fluid every where. Also, check the flash hole for attached debris as well.

From an e-mail communication with Philip just minutes ago seemingly he is taking care of the issue with us. Appreciate him getting on this quickly to help.

It's premium brass and even if it was not manufacturers have QA issues from time to time. Just contact the them or the seller, provide pics and a count and they will replace them. Stuff happens.

I'd have to agree it does appear as though Lapua may need to update their automated QA on the line. It's not like there hasn't been tech available to catch stuff as obvious as this for a long time. Heck look at bullet blems, many times you can't even tell why they mark em blems.
