Anyone Use H-380 reloading .270 Win.

I have a 1-pound container of H-380 powder, which I like to use to reload .270 Win. shells with Hornadys' 130 grain spire point bullet. I've never use H-380 in this cartridge, as I normally use H-4350 or IMR-4350 in my .270 reloading. I noticed Hornady has H-380 powder in their manual for the .270 using their 130 grain spire point bullet.
Was wondering if this powder is able to produce safe accurate loads for the .270. I'd really like to use their H-4350 or IMR-4350 powder but these powder have gone way-up in price, and are hard to find. A hunting friend of mine uses IMR-3031 powder in his .270 but I think that 3031 is too fast burning for cartridges in the .270 class.

Not sure about the 270 but have used it for many years in my 22-250 it's temp sensitive when it gets hot out so be very careful if you work up your loads in the winter

The container of H-308, I have is 18 years old, and I used it in the .22-250 with good results. Just wondering if it's a good choice for my .270 using 130 grain bullets. I've used it in my .308 with 125 grain bullets with good results, but that is the only rifle I currently have for use for H-380.

Both of those powders are too fast and wont give but maybe 75% case fill. Accurate makes a 4350 powder. It is the slowest of the 4350's but I havent checked for availability. I ran a simulation with 3031 and 380 in GRT and it didnt look good. 380 was burnt 100% in just a few inches of barrel. IMR-3031 wasnt horrible for speed but was about 76% case fill. I've used 3031 in my 243ai and 250ai and got excellent speeds and superb accuracy with it. It also won a number of club rifle shoots too.

Don't go into the weeds with your 270. IMR 4350 and IMR 4831 are historically outstanding powders for this great hunting cartridge. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

PS: Personally, I stop using ball powders a long time ago for hunting reloads. Too sensitive to temperature changes. H 380 was particular sensitive in my experience when I used in the 22 250.
