338 whisper parts coming together

Well I have everything I've been needing for my whisper build. The barrel is ordered it's the only thing not in hand. Anyone messed with a mos-tek barrel before? This one is a 5t barrel it's a 25 inch blank going to make the first barrel 6 inches long and use the rest of the blank for a longer barrel to do more testing. It's going to be going on a xp100 clone action that I have laying around. the brass is being made out of perterson 6.5 creed srp turning necks is going to be a posability the plan is it should be short enough and light enough to run for IHMSA and HHC then do some close range hunting with it. I've got from cast bullets to speer bt to smk and some special sub sonic expanding bullets that I can't remember how to spell right now. I will try to keep yall updated. I have one 223 to get finished before I can start.

I have a 14 inch stainless SSK Contender barrel and shoot the Nosler blems 300 gr HP competition bullets. Velocity is 1004 fps.
I’ve shot a few IHMSA matches with it and need a power screwdriver to dial up elevation. It’s funny to hear the bullet hit the pigs, turkeys, and rams big old twang.. Recoil is very mild with subsonic loads. 7 BR case is 1.5 inches long and bullet is 1.7 inches IMG_9941_Original.jpeg

Are you doing the barrel chambering or having someone else do it?

This is pretty much a 338 br correct? Did you go with 6.5cm brass for the SRP? Would starline 8.6 be any easier to form? Ive read 8.6blk is closer to 6gt than creedmoor. I would like a 1:5 or 1:6.5 twist 338 something. Good luck with the build.

Yep it's a 338 br yeah I went with the creed for the srp I don't think it would matter much on the 338 blk just kinda what ever is cheaper can form it with one pass in the size die any of the creed or 308 or x47 cases will work

Is this formed the same as 6br or 30br brass? Wouldn't that be easiest?

I have some used 30br brass and I was thinking of building a 338br ( subsonic only).

Would a 1:7 twist be fine on 250 or 300 grain projectiles?

Will a 1:8 stabilize a 300 grain bullet at 1000 fps?
I started a thread on 338 whisper a couple years back, here’s a link concerning twist rate that answers that. Post #7. I don’t own myself but I’ll get one built in the next couple years.

9t buger says will keep their 300gr bullets stable at 1000fps the dies in order were from reding they had them in stock ssk also has them in stock. I form my brass with the creed cases but you can neck up 30 br. They originally did it necking up 7 br cases. I have one more gun to finish before my 338 whisper gets built.
