Where Does The Time Go

I'm 68, and that is young these days. These things have awakened in me.

1. Our days are numbered and the
importance of what we do/want/need
changes with each day.
2. Preparing for life in heaven is more
important than things in this world.
3. Forgiveness to all those I have been
angry with is paramount to accomplish.
4. God loves humility - so I want more of it.
5. I think more often of those who have
less health, wealth, comfort, and security
than me. To ignore them pains me.
6. I worry about friends who don't pursue
. salvation or reject it.
7. And finally, I heard this question in a
sermon: Do I want to build a legacy for
myself, or add to Christ's legacy?

When Christ helps me accomplish these things, I will have all I could ever want.

My life has been a freakin joy ride that took me through some rock patches like you can't believe.

Some of my greatest regrets came from periods of total irresponsibility.

I've always said that if you've got no regrets, you're probably not paying attention.

I'm ONLY 68, and I try not to worry too much about the rough patches ahead, but I'm also not dumb enough to think that there won't be some.

I thank the Lord that he has given me the time to turn myself over to him and hopefully be of earthly use with what's left of me. I can see now that he's been with me all along, and those rock patches would have been easier if I'd have only realized it. jd

I am approaching 78, if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself! Well, maybe not!

To pass the "old fart" test you have to: Need to get up to pee at least 5 times during the night. Walk into a room and forget why you went in there. Need to turn up the audio of the TV to near max, even with hearing aids, to hear what Matt Dillion is saying or, if you're like me, you've seen every episode of Gunsmoke so many times you know the dialogue before it is spoken. You have black flies (floaters) buzzing around inside your eyeballs.:oops:

I just try to get something done every day and keep pluging a long . do really try to go once a week shooting . But winter is a killer . In the spring is really rough on me at 84 .

Very sorry to hear that Ken, I pray you can/have found peace as I cannot imagine the grief.
Charlie, thanks for the kind words. We are going to make it. We still have each other. I am hard headed. I am not going to lay down and call it quits. Christmas was different this year. We went to Pensacola and visited with her aging aunt and a cousin. We visited for several days and came home. Everybody enjoyed each others company and my wife had a big smile on her face the whole time we were there.

Praise the good Lord, we're all still kickin'!!! I'll be 68 next month, still feel young. Hopefully run into you someday shooting rats; I have permission to shoot around Christmas Valley/Fort Rock and Crane.

Sooo, I'm part of a mentorship group at our church. -- basically 4 or 5 of us old farts who have about a dozen teenaged boys we meet with to do "guy stuff" with, once a week. We call it "Pass It On".

The guy who runs the show, is a skier. The last time our group met, he had gone skiing down at Mt. Shasta that morning, skiing the run like 12 times. then drove back to our town and showed up for group that night until 9 PM. He's 80 years old. I'm in pretty good shape at 68, but my skiing days are for damned sure over. jd

Oh yea, Charlie. Time flies when we having fun. And I can truly say growing up with my two Sons I've had fun all 70 trips around the sun. As of tomorrow that is, I will hit that big 70 mark. I think the key is staying active (mind and body) as much as we can. God is good all the time.
Happy birthday, Bill !!

With regards,

82 this April.
Working full time as project manager in an IT department.
Been stretching hour to hour and half for past 20 years. Had to step it up from 3 days a week.

I've been blessed with little to no arthritis.

Just started a new rifle build.

The past several years I've been spending more energy not thinking about regrets.

Today is my son's birthday, he turns 53! All of a sudden my wife and I are 75, and going to the doctors more frequently than on fun trips. Wow, wake up one day and I'm an old fart! We all need to enjoy something every day, and reflect on our good fortune of friends and family.
Good words to live by for us geezers and everyone for that matter- thanks charlie
