22 creedmore

how would you compare this cartrige to the 22 4 clark cartrige as far as along range chuck hunting round
Maddy’s -

Howdy !

The .224 Clark has a “ base-to-shoulder “ dimension about .040” longer than a
“ .22-6mm Remington “ ( “ .224 Texas Trophy Hunter “ ), and the Clark runs a 30* shoulder angle; whereas the TTY has a 26* shoulder angle.

The .224 Clark therefore, would have notably larger case capacity than a .22 Creedmoor.
The Clark case would likely be considered overbore.

+1 with 357Mag, these two are not close.

.224 Clark is supposed to be roughly 60.5 gr H2O.

The 22 Creedmoor is roughly 52.6 gr H2O.

ETA: I would start with a 22-250 or 22 CM as the priority, and then if your heart is still set on the Clark I would give it a try in parallel. If you get rolling with a good tight shooting 22 CM, you may find the niche left for the Clark is going to be diminishing returns.

I think about the 224 Clark as the next rung up the ladder past a 220 Swift. Kinda in the family of the 22 CHeetah and 22-243 Middlested. Way cool to be sure but how far are you going to shoot these chucks?
Depending on your definition of long range wouldn't a 6mm or a 257 of some flavor meet your needs better?
I'm definitely all for a fast twist 22 Creedmoor or a 22-250ai especially when you consider the availability of good brass and dies these days. IIRC the idea of the CHeetah was lighter bullets real fast and the Clark train of thought was to shoot the heavy JLKs with a fast twist. Don't get me wrong I love that the varminters before us pushed the limits, but as RR has pointed out at what point has the return diminished? I bet you will have a lot of fun with the Creedmoor.
