A new/old 'Rem/age' rifle for me, again in 25Creed

Called my BR-shooting guru ('Wambo') about how my Savage 12BR has been an almost-good-enough rifle for me for maybe a dozen years but not one I've ever been satisfied with.. IOW, it's been promising, but it never delivers on the promise.. I asked if a Rem. 700-based BR rifle should be better and he indicated 'yes' and that he has been storing one of those for another friend, to eventually sell.. Since it's in 6.5-284, I asked if he'd sell it without a barrel, and he said yes.. I've now refound X-Caliber barrels and have ordered a 25Creed 29", 7-1/2-twist, stainless-steel barrel with a #15 heavy-varmint taper (1.062" for 5 inches, then a straight taper to 0.900" at muzzle) with matte finish.. Paid a fee to prioritize this order, so I might have a rifle within three months.

Yippee! Have already planned initial loads with the Berger, Hornady, and Sierra heavies based on the new data from Berger.. Nothing compulsive about me!!!!

Indeed; it'll be my first Remington and of course my first 700 action.. In 2006-'8 I had an expensive Bill Shehane-built, BAT-B-based BR rifle in 6.5-284 Shehane, and one day in '07 I shot very well and won three of the four trophies awarded.. Unfortunately it's been all downhill from there.

I disagree.. I feel that having the opportunity to pay for the privelege of receiving something earlier is a wise business choice.. Think of it as merely another option to customize that barrel to your standards.

the only nut barrel/ drop in ive ever had is prob 10 years old. its a shilen select match in 6br throated long enough for 105s. it still shoots purdy darn good and it has been a real shooter through the years. i bought it for savage but converted it to rem 783

I ship 2 to 4 weeks. The line usually goes exactly by date, unless I have several barrels the same, which I might batch up.

I did push the new shouldered prefits to the front of the line because I wanted to get them in the field.

I wonder about companies that never, ever seem to catch up. For 10 years they are still 6 months to a year out. I mean, it's become like a standard thing in the gun industry. But actually it's very odd. You would think at some point they would do something to catch up. After a decade or so of being behind.

I didn't know of you, but you don't sell 25s so I could not have bought one anyway.
