17 Remington problem….

Have been reloading 17 Remington for some time now but now bullets are being pushed back in the loaded cases. Granted these are kept in a 10 round pouch. But, never had this happen before. Stored rounds are never out of pouch and have seen this too much. Lack of neck tension? MTG

Thats what it sounds like

Neck turned? Maybe got a little too enthusiastic. Did that once on .243 rounds and the bullets in the magazine actually pulled out farther under recoil and then jammed (lightly) into the throat when cycled! Reverse of your issue, but worth checking.

By you comment " Kept in a 10 round pouch". Do you mean a magazine ? And is this in a AR ? If so then it is probably due to not enough neck tension and no light crimp or you are seating bullets to deep into neck.

I shoot both bolt and AR 17 rems, both are seated with 0.002 neck tension. I haven't seen bullet moving in the case with either. Not turning brass and I anneal occasionally. That's a small diameter with 0.002 interference, seems unlikely to allow movement.

I have had the same problem with my older brass what a friend said to do was after using the fl sizing die trim if needed then remove the neck expander and then re sizing the case . I don’t know how but it seems to work for me to solve the problem. That is all I can say . Hope you can get it fixed because 17 rem brass is not easy to find and $$$$.

^^^^ that would get me 0.005-0.006 neck tension, or is the a bunch of spring back? Have you compared outside neck dia before seating a bullet? Perhaps reducing the expander dia a half a thousand at a time, until you see no movement would save time and work hardening the brass.
