17 mach iv

has any one shot groundhogs in pa with this and give your thoughts on the round and a description of your rifle if you could.
I see Remington is now making loaded rounds for it.

Not in Pa, but in eastern Ohio..... I hunted with a buddy of mine that had one. That is a SWEET little round. Just plain instant death. The 17 mach iv and the 17 rem (which I have now) are really dandy to take into the chuck fields. Like mine so well that I sold my 223 and do not miss it. I would recommend a 1-9 twist. Just my experience. WD

Not in PA but North East Ohio, One of the rifles I use is a 17Fireball not enough difference between it and a Mach IV to matter, Ive shot a fair number of hogs with it, they just kind of go to sleep.
I've shot hogs with 20gr to the 30gr Berger's and out to about 300+ yards

The rifle is a Mod 7 built by Bob Green with a 9 twist 24" Pacnor SSM in a HS stock with a Jewell trigger and Leupold 6.5-20x40 VXIII very accurate a great little walking Varmint rifle, I liked it so much I had him build another in 20VT also on a Mod 7 same componets except for this one has a Mcmillan Hunter stock

I've got an uncle who is the same age as I am and we shoot gophers together and he has a cooper in a mach lV it will definitely reach out and touch-em
