Bring a spare barrel. With that level of performance, you need to go to an F-Open match and show them how it's done.

Never said it wasn't or couldn't be accurate. Just in my experience the Ultra is far easier to find a good load for.The 300 Win mag is one of our armed forces sniper cartridges. They must have found an accurate load.
That range looks familiar!!i will never not own a 300 rum. 225's at 3,400 and suppressed is a thing of beauty
The same here, rebarreled and chambered in 338 Edge pictured below.I shoot a wildcat of it, 338 edge.
You can get good brass for it thankfull
I turned my 300 RUM into a 7 LRM, and converted all my RUM brass to use with my 338 Edge.As far as hunting goes, I think when berger came out with the high BC 7mm 180 gr bullet, a cartridge firing it made more sense in north am. than the heavier 30's???
I had a 7mm RUM and went back to 30-30 and 30-06.People probably realized
1: really large magnums suck to shoot in light hunting rifles
2: Large Magnums aren’t needed to kill 60lb southern whitetail or bigger game for that matter.
3: Remington sucks at marketing and getting the industry on board.
Thanks for clarifying the timeline on the .300 RUM vs. .30-378. I edited my post accordingly. The 30-378 was designed by Roy for military experimentation in 1959, but not put into production by his son until 1996. Remington designed and produced the 300RUM in 1999. I fired several rounds in my first Remington factory rifle without a brake before it went to the Col. and had a bake installed. It was doable bake then, but not at my age and condition now. Ive got 2 300s and a 7mmone of the 300s is waiting for me to finish the stock. I like them but I think maybe they needed to have the shoulder pushed back .250. Jackie, still alive and well down here.
yeah we switched to 7mm Dakotas---now that brass is scarce.I turned my 300 RUM into a 7 LRM, and converted all my RUM brass to use with my 338 Edge.
need some pics of that 338 lmaiI had a RUM and enjoyed it a lot with the 230's. Got the 300WSM bug and it morphed into that for quite a while. Traded up for a beautiful 338 Lapua improved put together by Masterclass and Goodling and shooting the Berger 300's at over 3100 out to faraway places is some of the most fun this guy has ever had behind a gun. I would never let this boomer go, it is a nice alternative to the 6ppc & Dasher when I get the itch.
Regards
Rick
Very similar, the 28 Nosler is the most common used gun I see at stores.I had a 7mm RUM and went back to 30-30 and 30-06.
