6.5 Grendel

I got to ask about TAC! for the Grendel, not to hijack the thread, but I run an 18'' 1&8 with 123gn pills and a 24'' 1&8, using 27.2gn of ARCOMP the 18'' runs 2495fps and my 24'' runs 2575fps same load, my question is does TAC outperform ARCOMP? these loads are very accurate!
Tac was not quite as accurate in my rifle (so far) but still good, cfe 223 was a little better, had a hogh node that was pretty good. The absolute most accurate load I found was ar comp, it was a slightly lower velocity node, but the best groups were smaller than I expected an AR (and myself) to be capable of.

I found 8208 to be the fastest and most accurate at the same time. I could get more speed from LE but not accuracy at the higher velocities.
Those were my results also. CFE223 and LE were fast but I didn't get the accuracy I knew was obtainable with other powders for my rifles. For the 6.5 Grendel, I've settled on 8208, Varget, and Benchmark. Varget is a little slower, but is a bit more accurate than 8208. I use Benchmark for most of my hunting loads for the lighter weight bullets. I've worked up a load with the 127 lrx at 2400 fps that I've been wanting to try on some game but haven't gotten the chance yet. It's a stout load and is only for my Howa mini, not for the AR's.

Several years ago I setup a precision collet in my lathe and ground a form tool that parted and turned a new boattail on the solid copper hunting bullets base. One of the best was the 120gr Nosler E-Tip cut down to an 87gr bullet. W/ 8208 powder and a Howa Mini 22” barrel I got great accuracy and 2970 fps. This proved to perform excellently on deer sized game.

Got any left ? Love to buy some.

Takes maybe 20-30 minutes to turn them… If you’re interested you’d have to mail me the 120’s. There are companies producing similar bullets now though, like Maker has some lighter coppers for the Grendel in that range.
Ya Maker are out of the 85s. Been out forever. Sure love to get some of those 85s
