Arbor Press

Looking at trying my hand at seating bullets with an inline seating and an arbor press.

Looking at the 21st Century New Generation arbor press and the K&M Standard height arbor press. Looking for feedback on one versus the other. I do plan to potentially use this at the range so I do understand that the K&M would be easier to transport for this purpose.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

I liked my K&M, I love my 21st Century. I prefer the leverage the 21st handle provides compared to the K&M and imo the 21st Century has superior machining / fit & finish. You really can't go wrong with either.
edit: also prefer the ergonomics of the 21st handle location compared to the k&m.

My 21st centruty with the longer handle is fantastic. I can still “feel” seating pressure on 22cf-300PRC with ease. It is only missing the Hydro seater and mine would be perfect.

Sinclair or Harrells work great as well. Good for travel too!

I went with the Harrells arbor press for it size and short handle. I like the short handle over a long handle as it provide better feedback when seating.

I like my K&M and get a good feel while seating. Word of warning though, don’t get the low force pack unless you use very light neck tension. The indicator will bottom out if running higher tension.

Love my K&M. Never used a 21st so I cant compare. But the K&M gets it done. Even added the force indicator to mine for repeatable seating pressures.

I've owned nearly all of them and the K&M wins for me for a couple reasons. The first is that it's the only arbor that isn't on a round pole. Because it's on a trapezoid, any pressure applied holds the head in place and there's no chance of the head slipping or twisting like I've had on other presses (which is super annoying if you've ever had it happen). It's also the lightest overall for traveling which is important for me. It's a matter of less than 8oz but when I'm trying to make 49lbs or less that's important. Oh, it also works great too :p

My main seating arbor press is the K&M, it just plain works great for me.

I have a Bald Eagle arbor I use for the few times I need to seat at the range.

I started with Harrell’s and haven’t had a reason to change, I recently added the Accuracy One seating comparator as seating pressure doesn’t seem to change the target but seating depth certainly does.

I like the K&M press best for smoothness but either will do a great job. The secret is in the die, not the press. I love the Wilson inline seating dies.

I use the Bald Eagle most of the time (6mmBR.) The K&M is taller though, so I sometimes switch to that for 308. I find the K&M handle a little short to be ideal (a simple fix, but one I haven't gotten around to doing.) The Bald Eagle just seems easier (or more pleasant) to use.
