I am putting my Remington 40XBR .222 up for sale. Date of manufacture I was told from Remington is 1971. It’s the heavy varmint with the longer barrel. Bore scoped it and looks like very little use. I can’t find a ding in the wood anywhere and metal finish is like new. Comes with a Lyman ALL-AMERICAN 8 X scope and a set of un-used RCBS full length die set. Gun and scope are in mint condition as far as I can tell. Asking price for all is $2000.00 shipped and insured to CONUS. Adding 50 pieces of new Lapua brass and 2 boxes of 52 grain Berger bullets. Price now $1800.00.

I have not shot it nor has the guy I bought it from. The guy before him has I believe. And I do believe it’s the original only by looking at the wood and finish of the receiver.

Is the stock the only difference between the 40XBR and 40X? Do you have additional pictures? Thanks.

The anti bind slot is on the right side bolt lug. The original barrel has the letters REP on the right side and two date code letters on the left side along with the caliber stamp. The 2 ounce trigger was optional and did not have a safety. The 40X's ending with the suffix B in the serial number had shorter barrels (22 inch). They are the 40XBBR rifles. They were made in 6X47 not 6X45. Looks like your rifle has standard trigger with safety.
