"new" ripoff trimmer from Hornady

WHAT?!!!!!!
Oh the outrage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can we even think of buying from someone who was stealing part of his machine from another company?!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ironic sarcasm)
Henderson bought and worked with Forster for those parts, Hornady just took a design, made a few changes and then said “this type of trimming can only be found in a factory”. It’s not nearly the same at all.

For those talking about the pilot spinning in the neck, if you have any problems just sand/file down the pilot in the appropriate areas. I’ve run over 40K rounds though mine over the past 6+ years and once the pilot was sanded appropriately it was a none issue. This is with shooting: 223, 6 Dasher, 243 win, 257 weatherby, 6.5 CM, 6.5 PRC, 308 win, 30-06, 300 WM, 300 PRC, 300 WSM and 338 LM. Most having different brands of brass and recently I went from .001” of neck tension on the 6 Dasher to .004”, no issue.

Henderson: Uses Forster cutter and collets = pays Forster for them.

Hornady: Uses Henderson design, makes a few changes = Neither Henderson or Forster get anything

Not the same at all.

Changes = not the same product. Similar design. Do you really want to go into that rabbit hole of all the products in the history of our sport, or otherwise, that started that way and we all use without a second thought? Or just keep being mad at Hornady? LOL

It has to do with integrity and not even trying to work with the original designer.

Where do you draw the line?

As mentioned previously MDT has worked with others and Hornady could have done the same. Instead they chose the year of the Chinese knock off.

Who says they have to work with the original designer when they make changes to better a design? No one because they don't. It's people on the internet with no idea of how to run a business telling an American company who has been in business 75 years how they should do things. It's not a Chinese knock off either. It's Hornady's product they put out. Buy it or don't but getting on a high horse over one product is just ridiculous and typical internet.

So what kick back do you get from Hornady?

You didn’t answer the question, where do you draw the line?

Considering the product will most certainly be made in China, it’s a Chinese knock off.

I am not about to argue legal or illegal, but this sure smells dirty. Dirty can be legal, that doesn't make it right.

I draw the line at complete copies. When a company makes changes they are making something that they see can be fixed and then it’s up to the public buying the product to see if that fix was appropriate. Look at Garmin coming out with another radar chrono. They did it better than LabRadar and people spoke with their wallets. We will see what happens here.

How do you know it will be made in China?
