just got my rifle back from gunsmith and rebarreled it to a 6 BRA thinking about fireforming with 30 grains of varget & 107 MK grain bullet does this seem about right to you guys .

Should be O K for F/F'ing. 30 gr. of Varget is about tops for the reg. 6BR with the 103 - 107 gr. class bullets.

I think when I inquired about this, the suggestion was for 29 gr of Varget and 105/107 gr bullet.
So as to not work the brass too hard on the first firing. I will be watching to see what others are doing.

29.0 gr. would be easier on the brass no doubt.

ok hope to hear from more people i have no problem doing 29 grains if that's been doing a good job .

I'm interested in hearing from others as to if their rifles shot pretty good groups while fire forming, the powder used and load in grains.
I have 50 pieces of BR Brass to neck turn and I will be fire forming afterwards. I do plan on loading Varget at 29 grains. Possibly +/- .1 or .2 grains if the fire forming load will shoot a smaller group.

can ask what bullet you used . i had a 20 BR once sold it & regretted it .

If you have a -.004 chamber for a 6BRA...will wax bullet fireforming result in adequately formed shoulders in one firing?

Just do load development just like you would any other round, FF rounds will shoot really good if done correctly.
I've got 4-AI cartridges and I treat them just like any other round. Now you dont wanna start at top end loads.

anyone know if hornaday makes a modified case for the 6 BRA ?

JD Jones always told me to use 85% of max load for fireforming his speciality rounds. Always done this. They shoot very close to full power rounds.

lots of factors there you would have to figure what 85% for your particular rifle would be ? i would say 29 grains would be sufficient.

I tried fireforming my 6 BR brass to 6 BRA at 29.5 grains of Varget using Berger 105 hybrids, and not very good accuracy.
I settled on 30.4- 30.6 and it's amazing.
Once fireformed I get great results from 30.9 grains and up

Not at all. The case expanding seems to alter the pressure so it's no problem.
