Whats everyone been up to with there 20-222’s? Anyone try 32gr Nosler BT’s? I have been shooting very tight w 32gr hornadys for a while now. Tried some noslers and lost it. Not fair to hate yet as i havent wrung em out testing much yet. Id like to try some others also. 39gr speer anyone? So many combos so little time. H4198 and 32’s absolutely stellar. What are you guys shooting?

When I built my BAT 20Duster I chose an 11 twist so I could specifically use the 40 VMax to get the best b.c. at the time .275 for a 20 cal and still have decent speed. I use 32s in all my VarTargs as they are 12 twists. I fairly recently got my hands on another 20Duster (20-222/40imp) that's a 12 twist and plan on testing all the 32s in it. I really like your rifle and am glad to hear you use it on crows ;)
I look forward to the day Sierra offers their 36 BK as a component for use in all the 12s out there. JR have you tried the 39 BK yet?

Thanks 17vld. So far i have only tried 32’s. Just have not had much time to play. The 39gr sierra is my all time favorite for 204r tho. Cant wait to try it. I think we need a 36-39gr sierra gameking bullet! Spbt.

Try the 35 grain Berger if you can get em.

Buddy shoots a 20/222 and they shoot great.

I shoot a 10 twist 20 VT with 34 grain dogtowns and 40 grain Vmax. The 20/222 shines with the mid range bullets in a 11 or 12 twist. Try the 39, 40 and 35 if you can get some

ALWAYS LIKED THE THE CLEAN SIMPLE LOOK AS WELL.

I'm typically not much of a wood stock fan but I am a big Rem 700 fan and back when I was a kid I remember drooling over all the Remington 700 BDL Custom Deluxe rifles with their walnut stocks and rich deep bluing so I tried to replicate that "look" with my 20-222 build but with a couple modern touches.

The action is actually stainless not chromoly that was from my Rem 700 VSSF 223 I pulled apart to use its stock for a different build. I added a HS Prec. detachable mag setup instead of the BDL hinged floor plate and had it all cerakoted black instead of bluing. Bluing would have probably looked more original but cerakoting it was much easier and gives it a better layer of protection. The stock I used was from a newer Rem BDL Custom DLX and the checkering isn't like the older Rem walnut stocks but it's what I had so that's what it got. It doesn't exactly look like those Rem 700's I used to drool over, If it was a classic car it'd kind of be "retro mod" build, but it's close-ish and the little bugger sure does shoot well.

It's nothing exotic or fancy and likely would blend in and go unnoticed sitting in the rack with other walnut stocked Remmies but it turned out pretty well and like yourself I appreciate the clean simple look of it.

Defensive Edge Rifles builds most of my stuff and they're who built this one as well. Shawn did a quick load work up and this was the first group he shot with it. Not much to complain about that's for sure.

RL 7 with 32 Blitzkings or V-Max and 8208 with 39 gr. BK's. Both 12T with PacNor and Shilen barrels on Savage single shot varmint actions.

I put mine in the safe around the middle of July when my ground squirrels went into hibernation. Prolly won't haul it out until next January when they start popping up.
It's a Rem 700, 1970's vintage with a PacNor #6, 11 twist nut barrel. 40X Rem single shot sling rifle stock, Vortex Viper PST 5x25.

My load is 23.0 gr of BLC-2 behind 32 gr. V-Max. They're doing 3600ish, and accuracy is great. I've got some heavier bullets, but haven't got around to trying them yet. jd

CLEAN RIFLE THATS SHOOTS WELL,CANT BEAT THAT!!
JPS on a side note occasionally drool when i see an old clean 700

I've heard it isn't easy to get small groups with the Ruger #1, that is what I understand. I love the look and strength of the #1 but the forearm attachment seems to affect accuracy.
But I won't trade my Ruger #3 .223 away.

I have a few #1s and two #3s in 22 hornet. I haven’t had any serious accuracy issues with any them, they aren’t half MOA rifles but they shoot plenty good enough for what I use them for. That being said there are a few tricks that guys that know #1s do to help with accuracy, I have heard of some #1s that didn’t shoot though, heard that a lot actually, just haven’t experienced it.

I had a couple that took a bit more load development than others.

Zack at Old Dominion will be building this one, he likes #1s and owns a few. If you know Zack then you know his #1s probably shoot. He knows his way around #1s and I think an inaccurate rifle would not be tolerated……
