yes my 20-222 is 9T...but remember it was a 20BR chamber....

11T is a good compromise from my experience..built 3 of those for buddies...PT & 204R..

Pac Nor builds a fine barrel...now get your Lapua brass..H322 powder...Forster & Redding dies

I use a Forster BR seater for Duece..........227" bushing Redding neck die...

DogBuster, I'm happy to hear all of this. I don't envision loading any heavier than 40 gr. in this one, and have read plenty of posts from guys doing these with 12 twist. I think this 11 will be the cat's jammers.
Does that 227 neck bushing give you a "no turn" situation? This barrel/chamber is coming from Pac Nor, and I haven't seen the specs.

JDS, 11 twist will do fine up to 40's. I've got a .232 neck in mine and Win or Rem brass is no turn. Lapua may require turning on mine or was told when I bought it

I guess I'll wait to see what the reamer spec is, or probably take my own cast before I get carried away. I'll be getting some new brass to hopefully shoot some "bragging targets", but the great majority of my squirrel loads will be done with recycled 222's of dubious background.

From what I've read, the 12 can be iffy, have yet to hear of anyone's problem with 40s and an 11 tw. I guess it all depends on mfrg and whether the bbl is on the slow side of actual labeled twist. From what I've read abt BC, I'm hoping that my "bbls to be" will like the 39s

Again I've used the P-N 12T barrels for over 10 yrs with no issues with 40 V max in VT & PT...

but 11T is the middle of the road..which I've done 3 barrels.....IF Hornady would ever do a 20 cal 50 gr

V max...then a 9T would be ordered in a 20 PT....never used the 39 Sierra much...V

max is always cheaper

I had a couple of 20 V-T and decided to try the 20-222 one year shooting Prairie dogs. After that experience, I rechambered my 20 V-T to the 20-222. It is a great cartridge. About the same recoil and muzzle blast as the VT with a MV very close to the 20 Tac. I use H-4198 after trying several different powders. You will be impressed with that little cartridge. I have taken several Coyotes with the 39 Gr Sierra and 40 Gr. V-Max. I have also taken a boat load of Ground Hogs and one at a little over 500 Yds. I use Lapua Brass and have full confidence in it for all 3 of those applications. You will love it....

This is more of the stuff I'm lovin to hear. I'm gonna be chompin at the bit by the time this barrel comes. I guess I've got to get some accessories that I'll need to set up with this thing.

I did score a set of 222 headspace gauges off of ebay this week. Also want to get a .204 mandrel for my Sinclair neck turner. A fellow member has got me squared away in the die department. (don't wanna be a name dropper)

I might even start roughing out the barrel channel in one of the stocks that my old 222 has been in way back when. Do the finish inletting when the barrel gets here. jd
