New Wilson Single Stage reloading press

I can’t see the point of any press at that price point when my old RCBS Rockchucker with a sloppy ram produces brass with zero runout. Quality dies that are cut perfectly are so much more important than any press.

I had an opportunity to swing by the showroom (couple miles from my house) and check it out a few weeks ago.

Very nicely made, perhaps a little smaller than some other similar designs (Lenzi, Prazi), no bushing for larger dies like 1" or 1-1/4"... but then again, Wilson doesn't make any dies that size so it kinda makes sense. IIRC, everything - other than the bearing - is manufactured in house.

I've got a Co-Ax that works perfectly well so I'm not really in the market per se... but I could see myself being tempted. I kinda see it in the same tier as some of the euro imports mentioned above, but without the import duties / hassles.

I do not believe presses make any difference as far as assembling ammo is concerned. Jeff Pinehardt said in the interview with Erik Cortina the straightness of loaded ammo did not matter. I believe that. One gets what their full length die gives then as far as cases are concerned and I doubt a full length die could be forced to bend. Much to do about nothing is my thinking. I have a big Lee turret press and I'm good with it; delighted actually.

I do not believe straightness of loaded ammo matters if it is being fired in a straight chamber with minimum clearance and tolerances. The chamber will align the bullet centered within the bore if the job is done correctly.

I am either going to blame or thank Kurz for settling my annual scuffle with my lovely wife over "gun stuff and gun books VS socks, underwear, and after shave for Christmas 2024. I showed her the Wilson SSRP on their URL, and she caved.

New record*; less than a minute.

Thank You Kurz,

ISS

* it took me a week back in 2008 to get a Cape Buffalo late hunt in Zim. Craziest Christmas ever, other than two in Chu Lai.
