12 caliber shooters on this website?

I wanted to check to see if there are any 12 caliber shooters on this website that want a 12 caliber cleaning rod?
I have shipped out all of my 14 caliber cleaning rods and want to see if there are any 12 caliber shooters that frequent this site that are also in need of a new carbon fiber cleaning rod. (Since the Saubier website is down I thought I would ask here. )
I will be reordering 14 caliber cleaning rod materials and want to see if any other 12 caliber shooters on here need a 12 caliber rod as well when I make my material order.

(I shoot 24" 12 calibers and use 30" rods with my bore guides so if you need a different length please let me know.)

Thanks and wish you all the best of luck on your upcoming shoots,

Carl C.

Your post for 12 caliber gear is intriguing. Made me want to research these tiny cartridges. To your knowledge, are there any 12 caliber cartridges that are readily made from an existing parent case? Recommendations on where to obtain bullets?

The 12 caliber cartridges I currently work with are based on the 22 Hornet parent case. (12 caliber squirrel) I think its probably the most common 12 caliber cartridge.
I've been working a lot with the 14 TCM Extreme and may also take that (22 TCM) parent case down to 12 caliber size as well in the near future. The shoulder angle is already in the correct location and just needs to be fire formed out to 30 degrees.

Finding good actions for the shortened Hornet based cartridges that handle high pressures can be somewhat hard to find and converting them takes a bit of work. If you decide to build a 12 caliber I would suggest researching your options on non rimmed brass as well before you make the plunge.

Wish you the best of luck on your project which ever way you go,
Carl C.

This one is built on a Remington 591 action that I converted to center fire and 22 Hornet bolt face with a Sako style extractor. I worked with Frank Brakefield " The Old Redneck" to get the project off the ground a long time back.

This was from Remington back in the day when these 12 caliber projects got started.

"The chamber and extraction system were specially designed to safely function with the high pressures generated by the 5mm cartridge (SAAMI specification called for 37,000 psi with a maximum product average of 42,900 psi, and a maximum proof pressure of 62,000 psi)."

Well that's well under max pressure rating of the hornet then isn't it? Thought it was a remington in your first couple pics. Looked similar to a 541/581. Very neat conversion.

I will certainly take a few or 5. We have a bunch of chambered .12 cal barrels along with blanks.

Same on the .14 cal stuff, (lots of blanks and chambered) we are back to making bullets too.

We are still waiting on material for the .17's right now. We ran out on the run of .14's and .17's we made. I cannot get an ETA on the material as of yet.

Reed1911, do you have any 12 caliber lead core bullets? I avoid shooting solids in my small calibers as much as possible.

Thanks for any information you have on your 12 caliber bullet selection,

Carl C.
