Sako Action Screws

I have a Sako L461 action that was recently rebarreled. The original action screws are the old slotted variety and not in the best condition. Can someone guide me to some new screws hopefully with Torx or Allen heads.

Check Amazon
These don’t have to be a high grade but maybe they have them.
Be sure of the pitch ( I imagine metric)
Length of course. Too long you can fix. Too short no one can.
There’s actually a newer style torx but I’m unsure of the correct name. Used on some scope mints and rings.
I can’t believe it took this many years for those garbage slotted ( flat) screws to finally be disappearing.

Maybe a ball torx but I’m guessing. Someone on here will know the correct name.
If I had to buy Phillips it would only be JIS

what I have seen, They have the same thread pitch as a Tikka T3. These may work and you should be able to contact them to make sure.

I used the same screws as a Rem 700 1/4 by 28 tpi Tommy Mc >A Sako Finbare

The Sako L461's use 6X1.0 thread pitch screws. The problem with using a standard allen head cap screw is they don't have the angle on the under side which mates to the bottom metal. Flat based screws will just gouge the metal and make very little contact.

I've made them using low head allen bolts and cutting the angle on the underside. Also, you can use a flat head allen cap screw and reduce the O.D. of the head and face it off if needed for the right height.

Good shootin' -Al

Just ordered a set last nite off of e-bay from this company for a tikka t3.

Just a followup to my question concerning torx head screws for the SAKO L461 stock bolts. I took a gamble on some Tikka T3 T3X action screws on e-Bay. These are listed for sale by J&A Firearms Solutions at a cost of $19.99 per set. These fit nearly perfectly on 2 of my rifles with only a small bit of shortening on one of the rear bolts. These are the answer to the problem.
Happy New Year to one and all, Keith

just go to Lowes or Fastenal
and get any 5 mm bolt choose
any head you want. if it's too long
just trim flush with the action with a cut off
wheel or Dremel , cost a couple bucks
