Don't know about the AR's but I never had any problem doing it that way with any of my TC Contender's...

More than all the naysayers who claim it won't work without trying it. Been doing it for years. Gets you close enough for minute of deer, and gets you dead close for more accurate pursuits.

Well, the zero would be somewhere in the lower part of the 'group'.
