Strictly from a sport shooting perspective, (non hunting scenario), I disagree that the 6.5 Creed mentioned in the OP is the “greatest”, or even the 308/7.62 family.
Judging from the number of Disciplines that it is being used in, (and wins in), and the number of different chambering that it is modified too, the 6BR Norma case in my opinion just might be ”the greatest”.
It is used in Short Range in its factory configuration, Short Range when shortened .125 inch, longer ranges when formed Into a 6BRA, 6X, and of course the 6mm Dasher. All of that and it absolutely rules the Short Range Best Edge Score Game when necked up to 30 caliber.
And to top it off, it has it’s own Forum right here on accurateshooter.com.
And that’s pretty cool.
