.357 Mag Lever Rifle Loads?

A max charge of H110 and a 158 gr Hornady XTP-FP. This yields 1710 fps in my Henry Big Boy carbine. Holes are cutting at 50 yards.
Congrats, Aaron, on the new levergun. Looks sweet!

And, I've got a similar load (and rifle) to vonb. No complaints with the Henry!

As far as favorite loads, I have:
Hornady 158 XTP-FP over 16.5gr H110 w/WSPM primer. That bullet also works well over 14.1gr 2400 w/WSP primer. I find that the FP (flat point) version of the XTP feeds super smoothly through the Henry.

My Henry X w/Aimpoint red dot and Dead Air Ghost45 suppressor.

How are you guys liking the large loop over the old small loop lever? I held one and it felt strange. Maybe it just takes getting used to?

Aaron, I don't think you get to give yourself the title. I would love the title but I am not one and never will be a cowboy. It has to be bestowed upon you by a real cowboy, or maybe that cowgirl in JFrank's picture. That aside I love the rifle, glad it has no AR15 butt stock

Josh, I actually prefer a smaller loop. The Henry's loop is a bit large for my taste. I've seen people wrap paracord around it to improve the feel. I haven't tried that yet, however.

We don't really have a section for handgun caliber stuff so here it is. Marlin 1894 in .357

I've wanted one since the Dark series came out, and quickly went away. The .357 models are fresh out of the factory and available now. I had to have it.

Put about 20 rounds through it. Pretty easy to hit an ipsc target at 200 yards. Just wanted to share my new toy!

Good choice, FUN RIFLE ! I've had Marlin lever rifles in 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, they added a few hundred FPS over the handguns. I never loaded specificly for those rifles so that I wouldn't have unsafe handgun ammo around as the rifles will go to I believe 40,000+ PSI.

I kept my Marlin 444 with a 22" barrel as it provides significant increase in power over the pistol caliber versions. Within range it really drops deer, elk and black bear.

The accuracy of all of this type lever rifles for me has been very similar. I tried a Savage Model 99 and a Browning lever rifles with no real improvement in accuracy.

I would picture you as more of a Rhinestone Cowboy.

You might be too young to get that cultural reference however. Haha
