Mentor In Las Vegas?

I have reached a point where I can't really progress in my shooting skills without help from someone MUCH better than me. I can hold sub moa all day long with all my rifles at 100. If it ain't windy I can make first round hits at 1,100. My longest cold bore hit is 450 on a prairie dog, and longest second or 3rd round is 630 yards on a PD.

I need help with wind reading and someone to examine my fundamental gun handling. I HATE shooting prone, but I feel I need to develope that skill. Dragging my bench ain't always an option on the dog town.

My overall goal is to extend first round hit on PD distance, but ELR or other disciplines are a fun way to achieve that.

My current goal is the milk jug challenge at 1 mile. I have a spot too, but the gong is I think 36" round. Keep forgetting to measure it. Its a little small at a mile! I tried a mile this year alone. I have to shoot prone from that spot. The hill the target is on is all rock. I never could pick up a signature from the little 6 creed impact. I need a spotter! That target from 1100 is too easy.

I'm out in Indian Springs and shoot public land. I'm interested in varmint silhouette in Boulder City but that is really far to pay for a range membership.

Could barely get the drag bag onto my back to try a mile. My 6 creed might be like 30lbs plus all my other gear.

Sent 20 at a mile. Nothing but dust in my face from the brake. Think im close, but no spotter and 6 creed impacting on solid rock. I only see dust about half the time at 1100.

I usually shoot from a stable table, but I shot off this wall sitting in the small folding chair after a mile that day. First round hit, not positive but 99% sure it was dead center. The target center has a smaller gong that sounds different.

17 of 20 on target the first time I tried 1100. Shooting Hornady 108 eldm match ammo. Now that I reload I cut the ES in half with the once fired brass and same bullet. Group size is similar, but way better ES. 20 round group goes into .6 at 100 from the stable table with bipod. I estimate the unstable table introduces .25 moa of error....some stupid tweaker pulled out the solid steal bench by my house and sold it for scrap, grrrrrrrrr.

If you don't think you can hit first round at a mile on a calm day or have won at least local matches for shorter disciplines, I am not interested. I have plenty of mediocre shooting buddies...

I don’t think you’ll get many offers!

Dave.
I know. I help everyone, but nobody can help me. I have taken 3 girlfriends (dont tell em they were not first) and 2 of my hunting buddies out to shoot 1100 yards. They all made a first round hit at 1100 with my rifle after I had the wind figured out. The girls had never even fired a gun or maybe once. I have taken too many out at 100 or skeet shooting and got them hitting 20+ at skeet. I must have 50k and 20 years invested. I can't even get someone to pay for gas. Last 3 people I took hunting chukar for their first time seen chukar. One harvested one his first time! It took 1k or more miles in 4lo to see my first chukar and many more trips to harvest one. I take any who shows interest hunting or shooting...

How many people can even make a first round hit at a mile?
Well, not everytime. How about you think you can do it half the time in ideal conditions? I realize at 3000 yards hit probability is like 15% for the best on earth. I can't even find someone who ever tried 1 mile! If I want mediocre instruction, there is endless instruction on YouTube from the best on Earth, but they can't tell me what I am doing wrong....

It’s not really a first round hit if you’ve fired the rifle already and figured out the wind for them. I’m certainly not discounting what they did with your rifle, shooting over a 1000 yards and making a first round hit in the 9/10/X ring isn’t an easy task (similar to hitting a 20” gong on the first round cold bore shot).

I realize that, but they never even hit a soda can at 25 yards before that lol

You sound pretty confident. Your weak link is no spotter. I shoot a lot by myself when others can’t go and I had the same problem. A good spotting scope with a phone adapter solved the issue for me, if I miss an impact I can hit rewind, zoom in and usually pick the impact up easily. We have a lot of public land here that is empty, nobody out there and you can shoot as long as you care to shoot. Fun!

Good luck finding someone who qualifies! I mean that sincerely

That is a really good idea! I don't even like people, but I like hitting things ridiculously far away!

There's a 1220 yd silhouette match at Boulder City 2nd Saturday of every month. We are also in the process of setting up a 1 mile match. I shoot both. Try to get to the match. Lots of great guys there willing to help. Couple of USAF ret. & Marine sniper. We have entrants from all over the state & I drive up from Phoenix. Come on out it's only $15 entry. Winner gets his money back & a plaque. Lots of fun but bring your thick skin. We're all busters! LOL

That sounds prefect! A bunch of people who can put me in my place! Send you a PM!

For some reason I can't send you a PM. Something about apple private relay not allowed etc. I don't have apple so I don't know what the hell is going on!
