Hey Dave, how do you like that gauge? I have a whidden bullet comparator and shoulder bump gauge. The shoulder bump is a great little gauge but the bullet comparator seems to stick to the bullet really easy. Even with minimal effort I get it to the point where I can't even spin a loaded round when it's in the gauge with very minimal pressure.

The way I did it the internal edge of the bushing is very sharp. That doesn't lend itself to a frictionless contact patch. Even with a slight radius you would have the same setup. It never seemed to bother me.

If I feel the need to check it as the barrel wears that is simple enough using the Wheeler method.

I've found the best way to check barrel wear is on the sighter if the powder charge doesn't change things where they need to be. I trust the target more than a measurement. Short range.

Agreed. If the gun stops shooting, a small seating adjustment usually does the trick. Ive had some barrels where I never adjusted seating depth once I had it where I wanted it.

I have seen a slight degradation of accuracy that was restored with a vary small adjustment to seating depth. This was at a short range group match. I saw the problem on targets and used the sighter to test the remedy. Looking back, I should have gone to the line with a full set of both loads, and done my testing before going to record.

No thanks Dave, other than he appears to have an agenda. He called me out without me ever posting at all. Go figure. Not sure why but it's been too common. Just unmoderated bs as far as i know. Don't even think I know him at all. I don't blame Paul or the mods as they have their hands full with this many members but he needs to be called out by them, IMHO...or just stop the bs.

When removing a 700 style ejector and spring, I just put the front of the bolt in a sandwich baggie and stick the punch through the baggie....everything stays in the baggie. Except the ham and Swiss on pumpernickle which was previously in there.

Bat I just push the plunger in a little with thumb to release pressure on pin then other hand I can push the pin out just past the plunger then let up on my thumb. Quick and easy and no worries of flying parts. Doing the opposite and I can easily push the pin back into place.

I agree that the target is all that matters. But when the sighter target tells you something is wrong and you dont have any rounds loaded longer because you didnt check your throat what can you do then? Point I try to make is that more information is good. Knowing the throat moved allows you to know that you need to test or may want to bring some longer rounds to the bench. I just like being a step in head of the barrel if possible. PPCs are a lot easier on throats than some of the stuff we shoot in long range. So I do understand why many sr guys dont worry about it as much.
