CCI400 vs Rem 7 1/2

Not sure if they are different. When Winchester primers cost me a couple firing pins, a bolt and issues in the P-100 at Perry, I walked away from Winchester and never looked back. I have used Russian SRM and Rem 7 1/2 since with no issues.
I just loaded some up and if they give any problems I’ll report back. Academy has them and can order just a thousand at a time with no Haz.

I read it on the internet, so it must be true.
When I started fooling with a 17 Remington, I recall someone in an article said the 71/2 became because of the 17 Remington.
71/2’s can be hard to find at times, probably easier than preinterweb days. I got really low on 71/2’s, bought some CCI450’s, no issue with them.
I ran some 400’s in 204R and had some “issues”. Found out I had some excessive firing pin protrusion, that along with thin or soft cups of the 400’s.
All I run in my BR’s are 450’s, 6mm,22 and 20, no issues.
Have enough 400’s for a long while, I use them in 223 bolt guns with no problem.
Just my .02

41 primers are supposed to have the anvil set shallower so it does not slam fire with the floating firing pin on military guns. They also use a thicker cup to handle higher psi. CCI 450 is pretty much a 41 primer. I have been having my most accurate loads come from Rem 7.5br primers. I used to use a lot of cci 400 primers in my 223 bolt gun but I had the bolt head bushed and firing pin matched to it. But I also never ran it hot either.

My Savage 223 bolt would blank any primer that was not a 41 or cci450. When I replaced the barrel I also had the bolthead fixed so I had more available options than just the 41 and 450 primers. No I run mostly whatever is cheapest. I just shoot clay birds out to 500yds and I don't need the real good stuff using the components I now use. If I was shooting past that you bet ya I would be using and paying WAY more attention to what I load.
