Help me pick a 6.5

I have a couple 6.5 creedmoors and one 6.5x47, they are both good rounds. Out of my rifles the 6.5x47 was the easiest to tune, it’s one of those rifles that shoots everything good though. These are hunting rifles. The creeds do a good job too. If I could only keep one it would be the 6.5x47, I also have a 22x47, 6x47 and 25x47, they’ve all been easy to find a load for, such a great case.

I have a 260 improved being put together now, keep hearing about it so figured I’d just get one and have some fun, see what the fuss is about.

I lke the word „inherently”. It gives the discussion a mythical feel. Kind of Schopenhauer argument.

6.5cm gives you more speed withhigh BC bullet, therefore it should perform better in moderate wind conditions than x47.
Lapua brass qualityfor CM is superb.
My 6.5 cm shoots in the ones at 100m, it’s good enough for f-class.

Honestly, the difference between any of these cartridges in respect to accuracy comes down to barrel and chamber quality. All are fully capable of shooting excellent at 1k. Just how much horsepower you want to push heavier bullets. Regarding 260/AI, its a 6.5x308, thats all. AI is just a 40° shoulder and little straighter sides, but still a 308win parent case.

140s I think would be the equalizer bullet between them all. Any given match here you could find a 6.5cm, 6.5x47L or 260AI trading places on the leader board. Only a few shooters really dominate at times, regardless of what they're shooting because they are former national and world level competitors. Everyone got whooped by a 223 sling shooter at the last 1K match. He wore his US Palma Team shirt, so none of us felt really bad about it, lol!

Something about and Indian and and arrow comes to mind.

I would be very surprised if you were not happy with the 260AI build. Mine is certainly making me happy. Last time out with it I was able to clean a 600 yd. Target @ 700 yds. with 10 shots and 5 in the X-ring. This was with the Sierra 142 gr. MK (older un-pointed version)

PETERSON SRP BRASS
142 GR. SIERRA HPBT MK 2.205 O M 2.871 COL T/L B S .511 B C .626
POWDER H-4831 47.5 GR. PRIMER CCI 450M

I have two hunting rifles in x47.
Picked over other 6.5’s because the loaded rounds are slightly shorter and lay flat in my shirt pocket.
It is easy to load for. First load sighting in was almost touching, good enough for hunting at my ranges.

It doesn’t matter if you’re shooting 6.5x47, 6.5CM, 260AI or a Dasher or BRX. We see a Dasher consistently beat various 6.5 and 7mm’s and recently we all got our arses handed to us by a straight BR at 1K. He who reads the conditions best for the day wins!

That being said I’m enjoying my fairly recent first 6.5x47 barrel..

I don’t own a 6mm, so maybe my next build might be a 6mm. Iam going to play around with 6.5 Creed and see how it goes, if I don’t like it I will pull the barrel and try something else.

Just for conversation sake would you pick the 6.5 Creedmoor over a Dasher for 1000 yards? A buddy of mine shoots a Dasher and is telling me I need to go that way. What’s your opinion on this?
