I finally Got A Locomotive Bell.

I finally came across a good vintage locomotive bell that (for reasons known only to me);) that I have wanted for a long time. I made a nice mount and got it mounted this evening.

I wanted to mount it in our front hall way entrance, but my wife vetoed that.

This bell is one made by the Dime Box Bell Company in Dime Box Texas. It even has the original Red Lead Paint on the inside. It is possibly a replica, as there is no locomotive number on it, but who cares.

It’s LOUD!!!IMG_2921.jpegIMG_2925.jpeg

Congrats to you. I know exactly what you mean. I have been hoping to luck into a riverboat searchlight for years now. Pretty much given up on the idea :).
I have also been looking for a WW-2 vintage Bronze Port Hole from any war ship or merchant marine vessel from that era. I had one located off of a Victory Ship, but two of the four locking lugs were broke. I passed on it.

A port hole would look great in our entrance way to go with my Monarch Stationary Steam Engine Governor I restored a while back.image.jpg

I'll keep an eye out here on the west coast. Lots of Victory ships built here, too. Recently took a tour of the locally based and built minesweeper MSO 458 Lucid. Last of the all wood naval ships. The levels they went to, to be non-magnetic is impressive. Bronze anchor chain. Aluminum and bronze windlass. Lots of cool features.
