Found a new carbon remover today. Actually the credit goes to an f- class shooter I follow named Keith. He has a you tube and Patreon channel I follow called ”winning in the wind”. The product is called Free All. Did my regular cleaning regime with patch out then iosso bore paste. Still had a lot of hard carbon. Applied JB bore paste, still hard carbon. Soaked the barrel for about 30 minutes with free all then bronze brush with free all and the results were amazing. Took the barrel down to steel. Best hard carbon remover I’ve ever used.

Yes, that's it.
I've used Free All also but it's taken more passes with a brush and more 'dwell' times.
Starting with a barrel that had a 'reasonable' amount of hard carbon in the throat [looked like a carbon ring but with a few areas that had metal showing through], It took a day of 4-5 scrubbings/waiting cycles.
That said, the barrel did come out looking like bare metal.
Based on a tip from here, I found that bronze wool wrapped around a worn bronze brush was more aggressive on the carbon.

I’ve used Boretec products for a long time and Eliminator has been a terrific product overall and I have now added their C-4 carbon product to my cleaning routine and found that the combination is very effective. Some of their Cu+2 for severe copper fouling and fire checking {really wicks it up from the cracks} when trying to squeeze out the last bit of life before a re-barrel.
You do need to use a non-brass/bronze jags & brushes if you are using any product that goes after copper fouling. Otherwise you are going to get false readings as the solvent will be working on your jag and brushes as well as the bore.
A friend has found that modifying an AR chamber brush (30 cal.) {trimming down the back bristles} to be very effective at removing the carbon ring in his 6.5 Creed. and I am going to start one up for my 280AI & 7PRCW as to date I have been swabbing with a chamber mop and cleaning with another one after letting things soak.
The bristles of the AR chamber brush really help to break loose the softened carbon and using a patch loop with a 12ga patch jammed up to the front of the camber blots up all the rubbish.
Yes, I do have a bore scope and can see the results.
*Just a sideline caution about Eliminator;
I have found that it started to show up some light rusting in my Springfield 1903-A3 when left in the safe and a friend had the same issue with his 6.5 Creedmoor Savage… Have now started patching with some CLP product {yep, Boretec} and that fixes that problem.
Safe has two cans of moisture absorbing product and still problem with rust in some firearms after putting away with just Eliminator in the bore and chamber….
The same applies to using a brush used with Eliminator, if you do not wash it out with hot water and some dish soap…. RUST on the wire that holds the bristles!!!
UP DATE: I just finished a clean using Boretec Eliminator with an IOSSO Eliminator blue brush and had no problems with the Boretec product dissolving any trace off the IOSSO brush wire and ferrel even though they appear to be brass. It has a golden color but must be some other sort of material that the Boretec cannot dissolve. Superior brushes and I bought a few calibers on “Spec” to see if they would work and as a replacement to the Boretec ones that I have been using.

You can say I like their products. I also switched to their cleaning rods as well.
I prefer the smaller handle then the dewey ones as I make rod holders from 3/4” pvc to 1.25” for the handle

I've a Teslong bore scope I got from Amazon. It is USB and will work with a phone (Android for sure), tablet or computer, so it is easy to use at a range or gun show. Don't know how I ever got along w/o it.

It is a good bargaining tool when you see a sub optimal or nasty barrel at a show or store.

They cost MUCH LESS than $100 when I bought mine in 2020, but it is worth twice the current asking price.

Got some of the Through-Clean , and used it once , so far . Jury is still out but I'm one of those Tool & Die guys that gets nervous about anything that says "ABRASIVE" ,in a barrel cause I don't have a rack full of barrels in my garage .

Have been a big user of Bore-tech for several years , and start with C-4 . Also Wipe-out , Patch-out , and have no major issues .

For Carbon removal, SLIP 2000. Wet the bore and then wet a brush and make 10 passes. Let it sit for 30 min and clean patch. You need to do that several times and the patches will start to come clean. For Copper, Bore Tech Eliminator is the bomb. The bore scope will tell you when you are done.

If you don’t have a borescope then all of this is pure speculation and we are all pissing up a dead tree.

I routinely pee on a tree in the field. When you get my age and have a prostrate as big as an Idaho potato, peeing a lot becomes a way of life. So, peeing on the nearest object to conceal the act become necessary so as not to offend any female interlopers.

From out of the past - Hoppe's No. 9 and a bronze brush! Now I did it - here comes the onslaught.

I have been using

1) Kroil to break down the carbon, 20 min soak
2) J-B Blue paste, to remove majority
3) J-B Red paste, every 3rd time
4) Hoppe's No.9 with nylon brush to clean all the JB out
5) Finally Lock Ease Graphite to finish the job off

I am happy with the results. No doubt that many will not agree but that is why they make so many different products.

I use Naptha to clean the Patch Out and Iosso(if I use it) out. Then I finish with Clenz-oil patched out.

Once I started using a borescope, I discovered it really doesn't matter what solvent is used to brush out the non hard carbon and that without using an abrasive, the barrel isn't going to be clean. It may be cleaner than when fired, but it ain't going to be clean without using some abrasive
